By the letter of the law, not a pen. Clearly Howard makes no attempt to move towards Anelka, but Anelka actually changes direction into him.

However every ref these days will give them as pens. In reality it's tantamount to a dive, because Anelka consciously made the decision to run into Howard to impore the ref to give a pen.

Alright, lets leave it at that. Now just lets get into thes Cockney bastards. Come on you creams!!!

No later than minute 60, I'd like to see Yak and Beckford make an appearance.

Maybe Billy too around minute 70.

i have to say , before i forget , essien has been top class today.
id love him in our team (he was one of the first players moyes looked to bring in in i remember rightly)

It was one of those ' Does the home crowd want a penalty?' calls.
I know if it had been an Everton forward and oppo goaly, I would have been shouting for a penalty and a red card, because my emotions demand it!

So perhaps to the letter of the law, not technically a penalty. However, in real play, one we would all have shouted for if it was our team. IM humble O.

Anelka was running toward Howard who was stood still. Then instead of anelka going round Howard he ran straight into him kneeing him in the face and knocking him over.

Yet Howard committed the foul? Why would he deliberatly block him knowing it would be a foul? He realised he couldn't get the ball so made no attempt to try and do so knowing he would of bought Anelka down.

As proven on here its one of those that can be seen either way. Personally i don't think it was a clear enough "foul" by Howard to of been given but others, and the ref did.

Hopefully Yak and Beckford will come on when Chelsea get the second. Coyb or soemthing.

The bold bit is entirely why it's a penalty. The 'keeper has to make a move for the ball. Think of it this way, if Howard moved towards the ball, Anelka would have been skipping AROUND Howard because Howard would have moved left.

Watching that replay again, Howard takes another step towards Anelka after the ball has gone. He should be off, bluntly.

I agree. Howard dives for that ball going away from him, its not a peno as he's clearly going for a loose ball.

Of course I'd have shouted for a pen, if it was our way. I'm a supporter, so I'm allowed to be fickle. Doesn't apply for the ref though.

Telling ya, if we go at these properly, they'll start to [Poor language removed] themselves.

They're on a bad run of form - we definitely should have attacked from the off.
