One of the biggest pieces of bullshit I have read.

I stopped at the part where he claims Bush conducted ethnic cleansing in Louisiana.

Dave you very obviously have an agenda and don't like the US. Stop posting bile like this, post it somewhere it is appreciated. I am sure there are many sites out there that share your distorted views.

Dylan...

a) John Pilger is one of the most respected journalists in the world. In fact he's won international journalist of the year awards on umpteen occasions. A proper investigative journalist in other words, and provides an antidote (or alternative, if you prefer) to the usual slant in news reports.

b ) I'm far from being Americanphobe. In fact, I'd say the opposite is the case. Why you equate the US with the policy of the US Govnt is puzzling. That's like me complaining about foreigners sla_gging the Queen or Blair or Thatcher off. They're welcome to do so. Isn't that what free speech is all about?

I did not know Haiti had oil. So why are there no big oil companies in there and producing. The Oil was obviously known about before the EQ.

Isn't it the Haitian's territiorial waters it's in? Maybe the instability of the area in terms of shifting tectonic plates has made it unwise to exloit it....until reserves fall to desperate levels to make it a rational choice!?!?

So a "respected journalist" says the Katrina event was ethnic cleanising by the governement. So it must be true.

A respected journalist here in the US (quite well liked by a large majority of the population) used his position to try to unseat a sitting president during an election by using a false document.

Just because someone has credentials doesn't make every word out of his mouth (or pen) truth. You would do well to recognize absurdity being written regardless who it is written by.

Well, it's a POV and one he shares with many. I should imagine like them he's referring to inaction before and after Katrina rather than Balkan style demographic alterations.

As for remembering the absurdity of commentators - you defend Fox News. How do you square that circle?

Chavez is an oddball, though perhaps he may have a point on the amount of U.S troops in Haiti.

As for the Earthquake weapon? Why would the Americans house the worlds newest and most effective weapon ( Well second most effective) in an unclassified research project? They even have open house events at HAARP.

But hey, conspiracy theories are usually entertaining ;) Tin foil hat and all that.

classic. (y)

Yes, Kanye West to name another....

Maybe it's just tough to get supplies in bulk to people when an entire infrastructure has been destroyed.

Aid efforts seemed to take a long time to get to where they were needed. That said, Canada's been at or near the forefront of aid efforts since it happened. (We have a couple of special connections with Haiti.)

And unless Canada's also somehow part of this alleged conspiracy, people, there is no conspiracy - the integrated Canadian presence in the area both before and after the earthquake assures that. (Again, unless you think Canada's also somehow involved, and anyone who's spent any time in Canada would realize how absurd that is.)

Show me where I defended Fox News. I did no such thing except to say they were the only network to have run a show with a conservative and a liberal host it. The thing I hate most is people presenting OPINION as FACT. Pisses me right off.

As for Katrina response.....despite repeated warnings much of the New Orleans population REFUSED to leave. Can't help that. If the evactuation had happened as ordered the human toll would have been much, much smaller.

Then, granted the relief effort was botched from the getgo, but I refuse to believe that all that relief was intentionally held back to assist in the deaths of Black people. In fact it disgusts me that you would even that cynical to suggest something like that.

You defended Fox by stating they - unlike broadcasters that, for you, have a left bias - offer balance amongst their anchor team. If 'defend' is the wrong choice of word there, what was the accurate one to use?

Refused or had little means to leave? In any case, an inadequate levee surely comes highest in the hierarchy of blame.

Well, first of all it isn't my suggestion - so you can hold onto your disgust. Second, it's the displacement of a black population that Pilger and others point to, not holding back relief. They're not saying it was genocide, they're belief is that it was a clearing of the decks for reshaping the social architecture of the region for economic and political purposes. Human engineering. Are they right? I dont know, it wasn't my point so I haven't looked.
