You defended Fox by stating they - unlike broadcasters that, for you, have a left bias - offer balance amongst their anchor team. If 'defend' is the wrong choice of word there, what was the accurate one to use?.

No I did not defend them. I merely pointed out that they are the only network who made an effort at playing it fair. O'Reilly is a bit crazy right wing for me, as are most of the other anchors on Fox. Just like CBS and CNN are far to left in their 'news reporting'

Refused or had little means to leave? In any case, an inadequate levee surely comes highest in the hierarchy of blame. .

Buses. Lots and lots of buses provided for transportation out of New Orleans. Hardly any of them utilized. I do remember lots of people refusing to leave, as shown on all the media outlets (including the bastions of the left in the USA, CNN). They made their choice to stay, despite repeated warnings. Effort was made, short of the National Guard moving in and physically restraining people and putting them on buses. But then you would be out complaining about human rights violations.

Well, first of all it isn't my suggestion - so you can hold onto your disgust. Second, it's the displacement of a black population that Pilger and others point to, not holding back relief. They're not saying it was genocide, they're belief is that it was a clearing of the decks for reshaping the social architecture of the region for economic and political purposes. Human engineering. Are they right? I dont know, it wasn't my point so I haven't looked.

The fact you post the article would allude to you supporting that claim.

Pointing out and defending are the same things in this context. I'm not trying to portray you as a Fox News fed right winger here, merely replying to your initial barb about not taking seriously absurd journalism...which Fox News, most would agree, exemplifies.

No, the city should have been protected properly in the first place with a better levee. Pointing at people's failure to leave their home and accept refugee status is just blaming the victims.

The main thrust of the article was Haiti. The thread is about Haiti. Katrina was a detour of your making.

I don't feckin' watch the damn show. I do know it stopped last year, if my memory serves

Yes, it needed a better levee. But with all the mindless bureaucracy prevalent in the world today, it took a disaster of that proportion to make it happen. Sad, but true, we can't preempt every major disaster that befalls the world. Humanity will do it's best, but it is always the easiest thing in the world to point and issue blame.

That is a fair point, but the article directly mentions this incident, which brings it into play. That is how this verbal sparring works, isn't it? Don't want something to be debated, don't link it/say it etc etc.

Just for the record: I dont think the US triggered the earth quake.

And I'm not anti-American.

You do, though, get hit with the House of Un-American Activities Committee if you query the American Govt/military.

Yanks Out!
