Change of Manager

Moyes might not have full control over transfers, in fact I highly doubt he does. I also doubt he will dictate how much people bid. But what I'm not having, is that he hasn't had some influence over this, as it kind of smacks of him a bit. The United committee would have asked him what he felt was an acceptable bid. They would have asked him, what sort of bid will pressure Kenwright/turn the players heads.

If he wanted Fellaini, and really wanted him, he could have easily gone and met the clause before the season started. I doubt the United board would have blocked that. 24 million is not an astronomical fee. What kind of annoys me, is he waits until the season has started, when he had all summer to buy Fellaini, and sanctions a big that he knows is designed to unsettle. He is of course within his rights to do this, but he also has to accept it will annoy people, and people will feel a bit let down.

Given he knows the club well, I imagine the United transfer committee deferred to his opinions on what was acceptable.

My thoughts exactly...

It's never too soon to join the bandwagon, only too late. Get excited. Get too excited. Yell. Foam at the mouth. Walk around the house with your pants off! It's never too soon to go crazy!

I only ever wanted Roberto Martinez. Couldn't be happier. Best young manager in Europe/the World imo.

Also took the 15/2 available on the day on his Wigan turning over City in the FA Cup final.

I still think what he accomplished here was very good and better than the vast, vast majority of managers would do in similar circumstances. Some disagree ... we don't need to go down that road again.

His actions surrounding his departure and more-so his actions since becoming Man U manager have made me dislike him.

That doesn't change how I rate what he did for a decade here from a pure management standpoint ... but it makes me like him a lot less on a "character" level.

Prior to his departure if you'd asked me "would you want Moyes back if he went to Man U for 2-3 years and then was available again and your replacement manager hadn't worked" ... I would have said yes.

Now I would say no. That's probably not logical (since we know he can do the job) but it is what it is.

If we're ranking managers on net spend etc. v. league position or whatever he'd still be up there for what he did here ... but also he can 'koff.

Very well said and probably represents the how the majority of Evertonians feel.

I must confess. I was a Moyes loyalist, largely because he has been manager of Everton since I was 13. The memory of Walter Smith isn't all that vague, but I haven't experienced many highs as an Evertonian. I liked how Everton became resilient, hard-working and hard to beat (if it weren't the top 4). I accepted that we would never challenge for the title but at least we would be near the top fighting for Europe instead of the bottom and fighting relegation, as was the case in the latter years of his reign. When it became clear that Moyes was leaving us for Old trafford, I was stunned and saddened. I almost wept after the West Ham game. But his subsequent behaviour has caused me to loathe him. He has treated Everton disrespectfully and has already tried to undermine Martinez. How would he like it if Alex Ferguson emerged from his coffin and told him that he would have handled an affair different or he doesn't appreciate Man United playing hoof-ball? He has already exposed himself as a hypocrite because of the Lescott issue. In one summer, he's managed to wreck his legacy.
