Change of Manager

I still think what he accomplished here was very good and better than the vast, vast majority of managers would do in similar circumstances. Some disagree ... we don't need to go down that road again.

His actions surrounding his departure and more-so his actions since becoming Man U manager have made me dislike him.

That doesn't change how I rate what he did for a decade here from a pure management standpoint ... but it makes me like him a lot less on a "character" level.

Prior to his departure if you'd asked me "would you want Moyes back if he went to Man U for 2-3 years and then was available again and your replacement manager hadn't worked" ... I would have said yes.

Now I would say no. That's probably not logical (since we know he can do the job) but it is what it is.

If we're ranking managers on net spend etc. v. league position or whatever he'd still be up there for what he did here ... but also he can 'koff.

Put it better than I did.....was pretty much what I was saying

I will be eternally grateful for restoring our pride when he first came and I was certain we were going down. Breath of fresh air at the time. But somehow in the last few year there were so many times he appeared to think we were not that much fun to manage any more which came across as being concerned more for his standing in the game than the good of the team. He never seemed quite to believe in the excellent team he has assembled. I dont expect any favours from him as such but the whole Baines /Fellaini thing just comes across as a bit unseemly. Not him wanting them as such but the whole weird double bid, low offer, late in the window thing. His strengths as a manager far outweigh his weaknesses but when he did the post match after losing to Lpool at Wembley and it was clear he thought we were only good enough to nick agoal and hang on for grim death I just thought where has the original Davie Moyes gone? I know the financial side of the club must be terribly frustrating but we are a boss club to be part of but he stopped feeling the love I guess.

He wasn't up for any Derby. That for an Everton manager is a disgrace. Delighted the dour born again Christian [Poor language removed] has gone.

Think dave moyes time had come as our manager two or three years ago . Roberto is optimistic , positive , seems driven and determined . He's re sparked the fan base I think , now wether he can deliver, time will tell.

Moyes was far too cautious. The teams he assembled were based on solidity and conceding few goals. However he lacked in finding really quality attacking players games were always tight but at the most important times we lacked that cutting edge, belief and quality. The believe thing was partly down to Moyes.

His era is over and like others have said I dislike him now. He thinks he's it. He landed the best Job in England through winning nothing.

I thought Walter Smith was doing a good job before Moyes came in and was weary of an "unknown" taking control. However I think he did an amazing job with what he had. Except the Champion's League season when his defects in his tactical knowledge and motivation really showed (even though we should not have gone out against Villareal like we did, that was shocking).

However I knew something was off when he didn't sign a new contract, and I think we all knew, with his relationship with Sir Alex, he had his eye on the job. When he left, I thought, good luck to him.

But after he has come back with a ridiculous bid for our best players, he is dead to me; I am sure it's not his fault fully, as others would have arranged what the opening bid should be, however he could have easily said that he was not going to disrespect his former club with such a hideous bid. If I was the chairman, I'd tell him to f*** off and don't bid again, no matter how high. But I have an awful feeling they will come to an "agreement" right at the end of the transfer window and shaft our season.

Roberto Martinez said:
"I have never seen Manchester United working in this manner before," the Everton manager said. "When you want a player you just do the business quietly, you get it done and that's it. I don't know if this is a new way of working at United.

Ouch, but his comments not reserved for United alone:

Roberto Martinez said:
"If I guaranteed now they will stay I would be lying because if Real Madrid decides to give us €100m for a player I am sure we will not be able to stop that. I think we need to be realistic.

We'll obviously see if the results come on the pitch, but Martinez has masterfully handled everything in relation to the media/fan relations so far. The only misstep has been Kenwright's Champions League comment at the introduction, but that's not Roberto's fault.

How well the team does will determine my love for Martinez but aye its refreshing to see someone seemingly enjoying managing the club. For the last five years Moyes made it seem like it was a chore to him.

At least he only had 5 years, he made the last 11 years a chore for me.

Moyes might not have full control over transfers, in fact I highly doubt he does. I also doubt he will dictate how much people bid. But what I'm not having, is that he hasn't had some influence over this, as it kind of smacks of him a bit. The United committee would have asked him what he felt was an acceptable bid. They would have asked him, what sort of bid will pressure Kenwright/turn the players heads.

If he wanted Fellaini, and really wanted him, he could have easily gone and met the clause before the season started. I doubt the United board would have blocked that. 24 million is not an astronomical fee. What kind of annoys me, is he waits until the season has started, when he had all summer to buy Fellaini, and sanctions a big that he knows is designed to unsettle. He is of course within his rights to do this, but he also has to accept it will annoy people, and people will feel a bit let down.

Given he knows the club well, I imagine the United transfer committee deferred to his opinions on what was acceptable.
