Last throw of the dice by the Chairman today as we have signed ex-Rangers striker Nacho Novo until January, with the option to extend his contract until the end of the season.

Should make Saturdays' game against Hamilton a wee bit more interesting.

Nacho Novo and club captain Mark McLaughlin have been released from their contracts early to allow new manager Kenny Sheils to bring in fresh faces in the January transfer window. Best wishes to both, hope they manage to find themselves new clubs.

Signed Barrie McKay and Darren Cole from the newco, the few the Rangers fans I speak to say Cole is badly gash and a trouble maker, the couple times I've seen Mckay he's looked decent,. granted it was against the butcher, the baker and the candle stick maker and a Motherwell team that threw the towel in before the game.

Cole does seem to be a bit of a troublemaker, but looking forward to seeing McKay today as I hear he is very good. Also trying to sign Gary O'Connor as well, though there is a problem getting international clearance because his last club was in Russia.

O'Connor would run riot in the league, provided he's not on the white powder, also wouldn't surprise me if Shiels went for Riordan. Twice he had him on trial and at least on one occasion offered him a contract but Rordan had to turn it down or he would have lost a small fortune.

Hamilton 1-0 Morton

We were absolutely terrible in the first half, but rallied in the second half and deserved at least a point. The two young players from Rangers both made excellent debuts and will play a major part in our attempt to stay in the league this season.

Riordan was sitting in the main stand beside Dean Shiels, who is currently out of favour at Rangers.

I'm surprised King Kenny's not been able to get the new manager bounce? how tosh are Morton?

Awful mate.

Dumbarton 2-0 Morton

A poor game which we deserved nothing from. Dumbarton's first goal was from a soft penalty and their second was from a decent move down the left hand side, but we never created many chances and I can't recall the Dumbarton keeper having a save to make.
The team haven't improved at all under Sheils and it will now take a minor miracle to save us from dropping down to the seaside leagues.

Will Kenny Shields be the right man to guide Morton to safety? All clubs in the first need to ensure they are safe this season as to not miss out on the Sevco money and also the Jambo's and possibly a Kilmarnock / Patrick / Ross County double header next season.

As a Annan Athletic fan I watched Morton get beat in the Ramsdens Cup at the start of the season and thought the dark boy in centre midfield looked a really good player. Also loved the irony of Peter Weatherson's winner to knock his former club out.

Also a seen Micheal Tidser is looking for a loan move back up north. He and Mark Miller when at Falkirk are two of the best I've seen at Galabank

How's Ally Love playing? at school he was one of my best mates, he was head and shoulders better than anyone else in our year.

I hope Sheils is the man to get us out of this mess, however, we are so poor that Roberto would struggle to save us.

Fouad Bachirou was the midfielder you are on about, excellent player at this level, but will surely leave if we're relegated.

Michael Tidser has gone on loan to Ross County for the remainder of the season.

As for Spoonsy, I'd have kept hold of him for at least another season and I hope he recovers from his injury soon.

He's been here 2 years now, played well under Harry Cairney then when Jim Chapman came he dropped Love for not tracking back enough I believe. Then this season he started wide left of a front 3 and scored a few goals before being used as a left back. Quite a reliable player at our level and he should do well in the future.

Just saw on SSN that we've signed ex-Scottish internationalist Garry O'Connor until the end of the season. He's been a decent player in the past, but has been away from the game for a while, looks overweight and will surely take a few games to get some sort of fitness back. The signing smacks of desperation, however, when you have only 2 league wins at the half-way point, you are desperate.
Welcome aboard Gary, hope it works out for you and the club.

Morton 0-0 Raith Rovers

Vast improvement in the team today, fluid with nice passing play and created a few very good chances. Garry O'Connor didn't look as rotund as we were led to believe he was, had a couple of shots on target and a goal disallowed for offside, he could very well be the man to save our season.

Are you happy that Shiels won't be giving as many interviews? for me that was the one thing I didn't like about him.
