Morton 2 - 0 Dumbarton

2 headed goals from set pieces were enough to give us all 3 points in a solid, if unspectacular encounter. Decent performance, but great result, which brings us within 2 points of 2nd bottom Cowdenbeath.

Queen of the South 2-0 Morton.

Missed my first game of the season yesterday because I had to work, but it looks like I actually missed nothing. Team were apparently like a bunch of strangers and we deserved to lose by more than 2 goals. :(

Morton 1-5 Livingston

Absolutely pumped by a Livingston team who looked a much better team than when we played them earlier in the season and to be fair, we deserved nothing from the game.

The one decent thing about todays' hammering was that our manager Allan Moore was finally sacked, though it's probably 4-6 weeks to late.

Anyone fancy the Morton job?

p.s. the boy Nicholson looked pretty decent on his debut, but must wonder wtf he's let himself in for.

Former Morton, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Leeds, Bradford & Scotland midfielder David Hopkin has been put in charge on a temporary basis and will take the team for the Scottish cup tie with Inverness on Saturday.

Davie, who was born in Greenock, has been working with the reserves and is involved with the youth set-up, is probably the best option in the interim.

Ex-Kilmarnock manager Kenny Sheils will be unveiled as the new Morton manager on Monday. He has agreed an 18 month contract with the club and will keep interim manager David Hopkin as his assistant.

Must admit I'm pleased with the appointment, certainly think he was the best of the candidates who applied.

Any input from Kilmarnock fan EFC David would be gratefully appreciated.

Quite surprised he's not waited for a better offer, the pros are he'll get the players motivated, he'll give the youngsters a chance provided there good enough, he'll pick up a few bargains, he'll be 100% dedicated to the job(last season when the season tickets were down, thanks to the newco fiasco. He went to a pub near the ground trying to get the boycotters back on side. How many managers would give up there Saturday to talk to a pub full of drunken fans?), he'll get all age groups trying to play the same way and he'll know them all by there first names... the cons are occasionally he'll make quite baffling subs(one that sticks in my mind is being 2-1 down to Inverness and he tried to get Harkins to play as a holding midfielder.) and he'll never pass up the chance to talk to the media about other teams. However the pros far outweigh the cons, wouldn't be surprised to see him going for Ross Barbour or Jude Winchester as they don't seem to have a future at Kilmarnock.

Interesting, thanks for that. Yeh, I get the impression that he got the job with the proviso that he can strengthen the team with contacts and former players. Heard a rumour that he's hoping to bring his son Dean in on loan from Rangers (where he isn't getting a game) in January to replace Nacho Novo when his contract expires. Novo has struggled, but to be fair, he's had very little service and the team have struggled in general. Hopefully Shiels' appointment will be the kick up the erse the team needs and I'll head to Alloa tomorrow with much more optimism than I had yesterday.

Alloa 2-0 Morton.

Another week of watching the poorest Morton team in years struggle to even get a shot on goal. The weather certainly didn't help, but it was the same for both teams. The only thing which cheered me up was checking the Everton score on my phone.

The new manager really has his hands full when he arrives on Monday. :(

Just listening to Shiels on the wireless makes me sad. He might be no Wenger or Mourinho but he cared.

Totally agree, saw his interview with the Chairman and for Inverclyde TV and he came across as someone who will give his all for the club. He's signed an 18 month contract, but already saying his aim is to avoid relegation this season, then to get Morton into the Premiership.

Morton 0-2 Falkirk

The team looked slightly better organised today, but we're still losing stupid goals. Hopefully the new manager will start to iron out some of the defensive mistakes over the next couple of weeks and possibly bring in a few new faces during the transfer window.

evening mate how are you tonight.

I'm excellent mate (that's what a few beers and a nice bottle of Shiraz does for you), how are you?

A bit disappointed with another defeat today, but think we've got the right man in charge to turn things around.

Everton's form this season has helped me get over Mortons' shortfalls. :D
