He's a legend.
No he's not.
Yes he is.

*yawn*
Some people think he is, some people think he isn't, really doesn't need arguing over.

i dont care what other people think ithink hes a legend some dont stop arquing like bellends and just have your own opinion

Look up the word ''legend'', then come back ,and tell me which story sounds more ''legendary'':

1) The average and one dimensional Aussie player signed from Millwall, who did nothing much to capture the imagination of the fans apart from scoring the odd goal with his head

Sh*t troll is s*it.

If TC hadn't done anything much to capture the fans' imagination this thread wouldn't exist.

He got it.

He's a legend to us because he has served our club greatly and gave his all every time he's pulled on the royal blue jersey. He has put us through our emotions with his goals and the points he has single-handedly won us. Other professional footballers wont see it that way, to them the legends are the Pele's, Maradonna's and Zidane's. I don't think Carsley is being disrespectful, just realistic.

I understand what Carsley is getting at Cahill has been fabulous for us but the context is frightening, being part of arguably one of the worst periods of this clubs history ain't conducive to legendary status.

Not his fault just circumstance.

We did have the 90's mate.

Some good reading in here too.

Think Carsley is being somewhat misunderstood here. Don't think he is so much saying that Cahill isn't a legend, just that it takes time for a player to be truly a legend, and if he was part of a team that basically just treaded water by Everton standards, then he is unlikely to remain at the top of the mind.

Take Arteta. When he left last summer he was referred to as a legend, but one year on in a thread about legends, don't think he has been mentioned once? Not to say he (and Cahill) weren't massive servants of the club, but you can't decree legendary status, it either happens or it doesn't, only time will tell.

Very good point, whether we like to admit it or not in the absence of trophies we celebrate the next step below - which is what? the odd good game.

Easily forgotten in the history of this club.

Its all a matter of opinions. Personally I think Cahill has been a great player for Everton and it's a shame we didn't win anything with him. Legend maybe stretching it a bit...

Carsley is basically bigging our club up in what he's saying. I.e. Evertons far too big a club to become a legend at without winning things. Part of me agrees, but I also LOVE Cahill and everything he's done for us on and off the pitch.

This part can't be underestimated.

Part of me can't help feeling biased because I know how much of an impact he has had in Australia by raising the club profile in Asia/Oceania.
