Carsley - "Tim Cahill not an Everton legend"

think its fans who define wheter players are club legends or not and im sure 99% of us consider tim a legend and just as we have heard from generation before us of kendall ball and harvey been legends were be talking in thirty years of cahill having been a club legend!

Lee Carsley was lucky to play on the same field as Tim Cahill. Poor comment from an old team mate. Not what this club is all about.

So Huddersfield, Rochdale and Shrewsbury can't have any legends, if they have never won any silverware? A legend is surely defined by the parameters of the club and what individuals offered / gave IMHO. Sure Everton have indeed won silverware, but in context, in a world where expectations of winning silverware are distorted (eg. by intrusion of Sky on the whole 'first division' thing - EFC romping the mid-80s couldn't have happened in the jumped-up world of Sky) I don't see that gaining silverware is the criteria. Just my view like...

Lads I would think it was taken out of context somehow.what is lee at with himself now anyway?

Spare me okay. When Pienaar left Ajax (a team that has won more Champions League titles than Everton,Arsenal,Spurs and Man United combined) for Dortmund, the fans gave him a hero's farewell. He is still highly thought of in Amsterdam and held at very esteem. That my friend, is what I call true football supporters who understand how the world works. Not bitter, twisted blokes who begrudge a player for trying to better himself.

I think if you ask people which is more of a legend Cahill or Pienaar they will choose Cahill.

The word ''legend'' comes from the Latin adjective legenda, "for reading, to be read,"
which referred only to written stories, not to traditional stories transmitted orally from
generation to generation.

Today a legend can also be a person or achievement worthy of inspiring such a story -- anyone or anything whose fame promises to be enduring, even if the renown is created more by the media than by oral tradition. Thus we speak of the legendary goals Maradona scored vs England, Jonny Wilkinsons drop kick during the RWC, Brian Clough's exploits in the 70's etc. Cahill is not, and will never be an Everton legend,NEVER!!!!!

Okay, which of the 2 would you rather have at Everton right now : Pienaar or Cahill?

It's not about who is the better player, if I was to pick who was the better player I would choose Pienaar. I think people would say Cahill is more of a legend because of his loyalty to EFC.

Ask any Man United fan if they consider blokes like Wes Brown and John O'Shea( 2 loyal, passionate and honest lads) as legends.I can bet my last dime that you will get a resounding NO.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Ronaldo on the other hand - 2 lads that left Man U for more money and prestige at Madrid - are quasi-saints,legendary figures that are highly thought of. So your argument doesn't really hold water mate.

You just equated Tim Cahill to Wes Brown and John O'Shea.

I don't know about water but your argument holds a lot of sh*t.

If we did a poll "Pienaar vs Cahill, who is more of a legend", who do you think would come out with the most votes?
