Carra the clown to get the push?

Why hasn’t he just resigned and agreed to leave on mutual grounds? Sky’s football coverage is sold all over the globe, it makes them billions in revenue, they will have taken note of the Danish broadcaster’s decision to stand him down for tonight as a barometer of opinion. He was bang out of order, very contrite now but how can his reputation as a serious pundit recover? It can’t. Too public, too serious and too revolting to ask subscribers to accept him fronting up as an impartial pundit now.

Sky can’t afford further adverse PR reaction here, in fairnesss they’d probably want to keep him on, but with advertisers & future contracts at stake, can’t see it happening at all. Sky’s brand is already getting hammered with the cycling disclosures, set an example of Gray & Keys, quickly ditched Marsh & Beagrie. Imagine if a Utd fan had spat at his daughter on film after the game in a role reversal? Reckon Carragher would be going out of his way to save the perpetrators job". Nor do I.

More to follow on this - if he is sacked, press will hound him & dig all sorts out they’ve known. If remarkably opinion swings in his favour, it’ll be a bitter Blue who set it all up. One thing is for sure, it won’t go away and Sky will have to act quickly.

If the fan was in his face and being aggressive I think he'd have some defence but the fact that he's wound his window down and aimed at her specifically shows some thought went into it before he acted, it wasn't just a "lost my head because I felt threatened" type of reaction like Noble with that fan who ran on. Carragher is a vile man whom I'd be happy to never hear from ever again in the media.
He says he knew there was a female in the passenger seat, but not that it was a 14 year old girl. So if it had been the drivers wife or mother then that would have been excusable? Yeah, sure. The only thing Carragher regrets is that he was caught on camera, otherwise he would have just denied it happened. I just wish I hadn't cancelled my Sky Sports channels last week - it would've been good to ring up and cancel if he'd been allowed back on.

Im always amazed at how much telly people earn. What does he do that's worth £1m a year? Anyone down the pub could do the same.

Gary Lineker on £2m a year from the BBC alone, it doesn't make any sense. That's more than a lot of premier league footballers ffs. Nobody's going to go 'ooh i would watch the Arsenal Chelsea match but they don't have Carragher as a pundit!' or 'the CL final isn't worth watching if jug ears isn't presenting it'.

They'd all accept a lot less as well, what else are they going to do? A monumental waste of everybody's money.

Bit more ranty than I was intending but seriously, £1m a year for saying 'the goalie could've done better'. The mind boggles.

That feller is frightened for his and his family's lives.

Maybe he;s made the calculation that if they didn't drop it then there would have been dire consequences. I certainly wouldn't have ruled out he or others in his family being seriously or even fatally attacked....and I think we all KNOW that was a strong likelihood.

Death threats already. The little girls probably been threatened with all sorts too by the Cult. An utter disgrace.

I was watching a match the other day on BT. Can't remember who it was but Hoddle was commenting that if the shirt pulls in the penalty area happened anywhere else on the pitch then it'd be a free kick. Like we've never heard that one from a pundit before. I wondered when he said it if he thought to himself he was being insightful......they spoil most games for me and I end up turning them off. They're employed to talk to people like they've never watched a game before. Oh for the days of just Brian Moore telling you who was passing the ball to who.

As sure as night follows day someone from football's own Manson Family was going to step forward to threaten to end the lives of that man, his wife and daughter.

We had a massive over reaction to the fans of one club at the weekend for turning the heat up on their grotesque owners for destroying their club's identity. When are our national media going to start sitting up and taking an interest in highlighting the death cult that regularly comes to the fore when Liverpool have a problem on the pitch or off it, or one of their players do?
