The Sky Sports football pundit Jamie Carragher has been suspended by the broadcaster until the end of the season after spitting in the direction of a 14-year-old girl following a verbal exchange with the teenager’s father over Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat by Manchester United.

A Sky Sports spokesman said: “Following an internal review, Sky has suspended Jamie Carragher for the remainder of the football season.

“Jamie has taken full responsibility for what has happened and we will ensure he gets the help he needs to guarantee something like this never happens again. Before the start of the next season we will sit down with Jamie to discuss whether he is ready to return to his role.”

Good that sky are getting the right help to those who need it.

I take it the help he needs is a spit hood.

May I suggest the "help he needs" is an afternoon with Vinny Jones with no plausible witnesses present.

What mentality must you have to send a death threat to someone.
Knowing the guy has a wife and young daughter, who must be worried sick.
What an absolute coward whoever it is.
I’m ashamed to be a scouser sometimes. Horrible horrible horrible fans, a lot of them.
Remember 95% of those bellends, are not Scousers.

Sky ensuring Carragher gets ‘the help he needs’lol

How has he become the victim in this?!
Have a heart. Right now he is crying whilst looking at the picture of Gary Neville that he has in a silver frame by his bedside. Will he ever go back to him? He is falling to his knees now, like in Platoon, "Garrrrrrrrrry!" This is mental anguish of the most serious kind.

He might have a luxury mansion. He might have (well we now know he does - even though the seat belts aren't working) a top of the line range rover. He might have millions in the bank and be earning a million every year without even having to turn up to work right now. He might even have a crew of bad lads willing to go to the Trafford Centre to rough up his enemies in the men's fragrance section of John Lewis. But he'd trade all this, to be forgiven for his heinous crime for which there are no excuses (that's obviously with the exception of the actual excuses he gave) in a one off moment of madness (apart from the last time when he got a caution from the police).

He's a victim. He's a lost soul.

He can't lose his job just because he has lost all credibility when sitting in judgement of others from a position of moral superiority, can he? He can't be prosecuted by the police for not driving with his seat belt on or driving without due care and openly admitting to spitting on a 14 year old girl which is a form of assault, can he?

Oh the humanity. And you don't think he's a victim. Shame on you!

Next you'll be sticking up for a 14 year old child who was spat on, like you think she was the victim.

Picture the scene in 12 months time, when he plays the answer phone message for the millionth time, "Carra, Gary here, sorry about you not coming back, we'll get together soon right?" And guess what... Gary Neville won't ever get in touch. Ever. Can't you forgive him now or is it just because he is a horrible person with no redeeming features that puts you off forgiving him?

He's the real victim. Poor old Jamie Carragher, mocked and derided and laughed at by all. Only remembered as a big head sticking out of window like a badly photoshopped Bo Selecta puppet, spitting all over a kid - every time he is mentioned, it'll be brought up and laughed about even more. How can you not accept his victimhood? Is it his lack of meaningful apology because he only gave one to backpedal out of a sticky situation and isn't genuine at all?

He's a victim alright. Always a victim.
