I hope Carlo got this setup out of his system. Team speed dreadfully slow and no attacking instinct. Everyone went sideways or backwards no confidence in anything. A total shock to watch.

Harrison Reed was allowed to run the game. Time after time he was allowed to pick the ball up in acres of space, turn and play it in to the front players under no pressure whatsoever. Carlo allowed that to happen for the entire 90 minutes.

We allowed them to dominate the ball so we could counter-attack. This is a team who will be relegated.

At home to Fulham and they have 57% possession in the first half.

Davies and Gomes allowed that to happen. The opposition having 57% possession is not the manager's problem. It just means your own midfield isn't good enough. He's not got Xavi and Iniesta on the bench has he?

Needs to settle on a first 11 once DCL and Allan are fit. I think once those two are back in the team, results will be a little better. For the club to achieve top 4, it will need more than what he has to work with currently as there are more bottle jobs than winners.

This set up generally works against the top teams but against the likes of Newcastle and Fulham our lack of quality on the ball becomes very apparent.

Weirdest thing is not worried about the next two games at all. Back four of the wall back, Allan back? King and Iwobi involved. Our tactics work against big team's and we seem to soak up and counter well. It says it all we can't cope when the pressure is on us though. If we can't win against these teams lower in the table at home we are down for nothing again this season.

He is doing the best with what we have. Ancelotti is a pragmatic manager, we play defensively because any other approach would leave us on the end of Martinez style results. People wanting something different are fooling themselves.

Is he though? Who in the right mind plays that front three combo? we conceeded every bit of width and pace imaginable.

Who in the right mind plays so deep with two of our fastest players at centre back? if we are playing holgate and godfrey and the slowest players in the league in front of them, who doesnt see the easy, easy fix is to play a higher line and press from the front to atleast make fulham play in their own half and allow our slugs the opportunity to atleast see the ball in advanced areas of the pitch, with our rapid centre backs able to cover.

Carlos set up allowed for sustained pressure, like most games this season, and play some aged version of counter attacking football with no pace on the attack besides richarlison.

Alot of our starting 11 are crap and struggle under a lot of managers granted, but tonight was the worst performance in a long time and thats on carlo.

Thing is, Davies' job is to get it and give it. He did try and do that tonight. He gives our midfield shape.

The system was the issue, and I said it before kick-off.

No pace up top to help Rich. No drive from midfield because Doucoure would be sitting too wide. No pressure from Gylfi or James because they haven't got the legs, and both just want to drop deep and get on the ball.

It was a nuts system and it's on Carlo.

It is how Carlo wants to play. He wants the opposition to have the ball, so we can hurt teams when they turn over the ball. In terms of possession out of 20 teams we are in 14th place.

If we want Champions League football then we have to be setup to take the game to the dross at home. We have to dominate possession, push teams back, create chances and play aggressively.

Carlo is just a negative, passive coach, who relies on bringing teams on to us, so we can counter. It is Football from the dark ages.
He's trying to do the best job he can with the players we have. Who is going to do what you've said out of Everton's current squad? We have no pace in the team other than Godfrey and DCL. We need to keep it tight and try and score on the break or engineer free kicks and corners. That's how we've been getting most of our points.

James, Siggy and Gomes only one of them can play on the pitch at time. Too slow...

You make valid points but for me if Gomes and Davies are better players we get a grip of the midfield and play 20 yards further forward.

I'm going from the starting point that we shouldn't be out played at Goodison more than a few times a year. With the current midfield set up we are surrendering the middle of the park almost every week. Eventually that catches up with you and you can't grind out results.

But how can he do that with Davies and Gomes in the middle? I'm utterly sure he wanted and expected them to pin Fulham back tonight but the sad truth is they struggled to compete. There's very little a manager can do at that point.

Great post. Absolutely spot on mate.

The ones blaming the players inability in order to defend Carlo need to think that these same quality of lethargic, weak and slow players were at Sam/Silva's disposal. Before him, Koeman and Walsh sanctioned some of the CRIMINAL squad building transfers.

But this is now Carlo's team 14 months in. In 14 months, being the great Carlo is he not even good enough to win at home against Newcastle, West Ham, Leeds, Fulham? FFS!

Are the anti football tactics Carlo's excuse for having fraud players?

If so, then he deserves the same stick as Silva/Koeman/Sam cos he is on much higher wage and than his predecessors for him to put up the same garbage.
