If there was suitable alternatives I would agree,I like a back four man as captain as the game is played in front of him unlike forwards and midfield,I think Jack will be a future captain but at the moment I would have to go between Tim and Distin hence my reason for selecting him

Cahill or Distin for me. Believe it would be an absolute honour for Cahill to receive the captains armband at Everton. Think he has deserved that honour. Yobo would also, but agree with TB, he isn't a leader on the pitch.

Agreed. Don't think it will lift anyone the way it would Cahill. He pretty much personifies Everton. I respect his tenacity.

Has to be Cahill for me. After neville went off on sunday i was looking around the pitch to see who was going to keep the team going for the rest of the game, last season you would have lescott or jags or arteta to call upon but as they were missing the only 2 i could see that i felt could motivate the team were howard and cahill, and as has been said i think it would make cahill so proud and would lift him massively

I'm hoping Cahill will be benched in favour of Fellaini if I'm honest.
His goal is the only thing he's got right this campaign. Maybe it might spark him into form, but he needs to play as a striker or nothing. He's really not at his best in midfield lately. We can't afford to have a weak midfield against Athens.
Perhaps Moyes will go back to a no striker policy and use Cahill and Mo up front again.
