Apologies if this has already been explained elsewhere but I'm struggling to understand why we are the "defendant" in this case.
Burnley's argument, from what I can make out, is that the points were deducted from us a season late and if they'd been deducted in the correct season then they'd have stayed up at our expense (circumstantial at best because if the points deduction had galvanised us like it did the following season then there is no guarantee we'd have gone down even after a deduction).
Either way, we didn't choose when to have the points deducted. That was the process/rules in place at the time as dictated and governed by the Premier League. So surely Burnley's case should be against them, not us?
