Burnley Case

I think somebody, as some point, suing the Premier League becomes an increasng possibiity - maybe even is countersuing for the losses if we don't win the appeal.

I also think having been punished for one season (21/22) in the following season with a 6 point deduction and then retrospectively we're being punished again for the same season, then we should sue the Premier League for the 6 point deduction (which was 10 first) during 22/23 season which had nothing to do with THAT season. How that impacted us. In the same manner Burnley allege for them.

If it's good for the goose.....

Silly season.

This latest tribunal isn't specifically about the point deduction per say. Everton already admitted guilt and accepted the final punishment for that. This is a Burnley lawsuit saying that our breach is why they were relegated in 21/22 and it would have been us that got relegated if we hadn't cheated. The panel used all kinds of dodgy stats and probability equations to try and prove it so. Some of those were absolutely ridiculous and cherry picked to try and get it over the line.

Everton have already clearly demonstrated in their evidence that it had nothing to do with it whatsoever and will win the appeal comfortably imo.

The biggest issue now is that they have been ordered to pay Burnley now before the appeal is completed and Everton know they will never get the money back if they win the appeal due to Burnley's massive debt problems.

We are basically been ordered to bail them out of their current financial problems.

Just refuse to pay it's not like they can take us to court as it's not a legally binding decision.

Let's be honest, they don't care the slightest about us, but Khaldoon Al Mubarak's interview last week was very robust, saying he can't wait the results of the 115 charges against City being made known so that after three years he can have his say. Rightly or wrongly, there is no way the Premier League win a fight with City - they already shown they will back off, with that measly fine for Chelsea.
I don’t even know what grounds we’d sue the PL on though. Everything they’ve done and allowed Burnely to do is within the rules that clubs have voted for.

It’s not legally binding in a court of law but it’s contractually binding with the Premier League. If we don’t pay they can hit us with another points deduction, hit us with more fines, withhold broadcaster money or give us a transfer embargo

If Burnley don’t pay us back then would they go into bankruptcy or administration?

We don’t have the option of not paying, I think I read that when the prem releases our tv money / prize money they will just make sure we get 35 mil less than what we should get and give it to Burnley instead I believe

Everton suggested an Escrow account for the money to be put in because of Burnley’s huge debt problems and were refused that as well. It was just like kangaroo hearing. Worst thing is when Burnley were relegated, they sold a load of players at higher prices and made about 83 million and we are now being ordered to give them 26 million and 9 million interest for the harm we did to them because of that relegation.

Couldn't make it up.

Yer that’s what I’d said in withholding it mate, I think we should just bundle Masters into the back of a car and blow touch his feet but I’m old school like that

That would be worth it.

If we were to win the appeal. Then any points deduction etc would be overturned. But from what I'm reading if we pay Burnley we might not get that back. Very dodgy. Very dodgy

Just realised I follow Alan Pace daughter on instagram for her director box reviews at each stadium (she didn't go Everton's though).

Always thought her fella was a proper gimp. He's part of the board at Burnley and tagged in her bio.
