Burnley Case

I completely forgot that they found us to have gained no sporting advantage in the original decision.

They’ve completely gone against their own ruling to nail us again.

Incredible.

Hopefully the Friedkins hire a better lawyer than Moshiri getting Lionel Hutz in.
I’m pretty sure they said there was sporting advantage. The issue is how does anyone quantify what that was?

They are effectively saying the sporting advantage was at least 4 points as any less and it wouldn’t have affected Burnley being relegated.

Once again, that did not happen.

No we shouldn’t and they don’t deserve it. They were crap and deserved to be relegated.

Because a so called independent panel decided they felt we gained a sporting advantage, there is zero way to quantify that sporting advantage.

We overspent by £19.5m. How they have then been awarded nearly twice that makes no sense. we have had 6 points deducted already for this, and lost £6m through league placing because of it.

We are effectively being punished for a third time. Any issue other clubs have should be with the PL and their haphazard handling of their own rules.
Lets be honest. The clowns running everton at the time knew what they were doing. they were crooks and did everything they could to cheat out of trouble. Thats on them, not the football club. But its the club that sadly has to pay.

Just be glad they are gone. I despise them and all those who enabled them.

Burnley don't deserve sh.. The only reason we got one place above them is because we had to throw overboard all our decent players and cut our spending to be one of the lowest in the league, to try and meet PSR requirements.

City and Chelsea also finished above Burnley and broke rules, so they should be culpable too, if no, It shows we should have kept spending and we'd have finished multiple places ahead and therefore not a direct cause of them going down, as per them.

That's another thing that I can't get my head around, why is it no other club as well ? Forest breached, think Leicester did as well, Chelsea's breach was massive but they blamed previous owners and got a £10m slap on the wrist, why is no one sued them for a much, much worse breach ? Why aren't we blaming our previous owners ? Why aren't the premier league taking some of the blame, it wasn't our fault we were not punished for the breach at that time, it was down to the premier league themselves. Seems every club will be laughing at our expense again.

Does this mean the other relegated clubs can do the same?
No one has a clue.
Burnley allegedly had a case as they would have stayed up in our place had the deduction been applied in he season of the breach. The other teams were too far gone points wise in theory.
The whole thing is a load of old nonsense, I think the appeal will be upheld as the alternative will be too big for the EPL to swallow when it opens up a Pandora’s box of litigation against at least, us, city, Chelsea, Forest and Leicester.

Apparently a few journo's etc were part of a video briefing this morning from Everton. Listening to the Toffee TV live now about it, they were present at the briefing. It has been said that the appeal is 'well in progress', the Friedkins are absolutely fuming right now, and that their message is that "The premier league do not want this". Sounds like if this is upheld at appeal then the Friedkins will start legal proceedings against pretty much everybody to turn this into a farce. Sounds good! This is supported by the club statement which did sound very angry in tone.
Hope this is true, I'm 'kin fuming.
