Police don’t start the violence? Is that a general catch all? Or just for protests?
Again, even if it was true, the police should not be responding with violence- they can use appropriate force and try to calm a situation surely?
In my mind they have used appropriate force from what I've seen of the Bristol gatherings.

I agree they shouldn't use excessive violence, as in the example I gave above. I can fully understand why they might do that but that doesn't condone it. They have to be above that and invariably they are in my opinion..

Protest laws move UK towards paramilitary policing, says former chief

Exclusive: Michael Barton, who led Durham force, says government should show common sense after pandemic

A former police chief has warned that new protest laws move Britain dangerously towards “paramilitary policing” and that UK ministers are “flexing their muscles via their police forces” like repressive regimes around the world.

Muslims have the right to practice their religion how they see fit. They do not have the right to demand a teachers sacking and threaten people violence when non muslims choose to live their lives against the will of 'Allah'.

This is not a muslim country, if they want all drawings of Muhammed banned then go and live in Iran. If they would rather live in a country where they are actually free to have the right to protest then they should pipe down and shut up.

Muslims want their cake and eat it.
But free speech has its limits, you can't just spew or systematically offend 5% of the British population, without showing any consideration, especially seeing what happened in France earlier this year. I can't go out in public and display Nazi logos for example, so freedom of speech does not mean freedom of consequences.

“An uncontrolled or uncontrollable mob is only the voice of madness, not the voice of the people”
Bobby Kennedy

Anyone who joins these protests with violence on their minds is a thug. There has to be a peaceful way.
There is mate. The time for talking is over. Call it extreme if you like, but I propose that they hit them hard and hit them fast with a major -- and I mean major -- leaflet campaign, and while they reeling from that, they should follow up with a drive, a car boot sale, some street theatre and possibly even some benefit concerts.
