I have no real issues with peaceful protest at all and understand why people may feel aggrieved although during COVID perhaps there’s other ways.

What I do find perplexing is why there haven’t been protests at parliament, who are passing the bill, rather than attacking a police station and vehicles?
Might be because the Met Police have a blanket policy of no protest. Whereas other forces allow peaceful protest.

There have been good examples of policing across the country and facilitated peaceful protest. But the reporting is all about the flare ups.

Maybe cos they cant travel to parliament , and those that live nearby chose to wait til the time is right.

I agree with you on that.

It's the fundamentals where we disagree. You say you are more worried by police violence than protester violence. From my view, if you didn't have protester violence then you don't get police violence. Police don't start the violence.

Now and again they overreact and I criticise them if I see this. Like dragging people off and 2 or more laying into them with batons. But all I've seen is some shoving using the shields and attempts at street clearing with dogs on leashes and police horses.

Police don’t start the violence? Is that a general catch all? Or just for protests?
Again, even if it was true, the police should not be responding with violence- they can use appropriate force and try to calm a situation surely?

Spot on, it is any old excuse for some.

Simple thing here lads: the UK is recognised as a liberal democracy. We respect the rule of law. The law says that the police cannot automatically make peaceful protest unlawful and they have a duty to facilitate peaceful protest (regardless of Covid regulations). If a protest becomes violent, police must respond with reasonable force.

If you don't like it, go live in China Or Russia.
