From what I saw, and I've just watched about 10 videos, many of them showing duplicated scenes, the police didn't just let the dogs loose on the rioters/demonstrators. They were all under the control of their handlers. It wasn't indiscriminate.

I wasn’t suggesting dogs were let loose. I was saying that dogs aren’t targeted onto one person in a group.
They are also terrifying and cause panic as I have seen first hand.
They were unnecessary here and it’s hard not to think intended to raise tensions

I've been against the gatherings and people being idiots, mate. Not against the right to protest, but gatherings, and the idiots doing illegal/violent stuff.

But I've seen videos of people being beaten up by police.

That's not on either.

I think this is the view of many but it’s turned into if you think the police acted inappropriately then you must be fine with lockdown being broken and with any violence against the police.

I disagree. But then we usually do. I believe in the right to peaceful protest. You always defend protests that turn violent. Never our fault sir. Always the police. Sorry. Not for me.

Saying the police were in the wrong is not the same as defending violent protestors. Nor is saying some violence is inevitable after certain actions or that non peaceful protest is often successful an advocacy for all protests to be violent

I don't have the figures but I would guess that the vast majority of protests don't turn to violence, which is as it should be. Those that do turn into violence and rioting then the police have to act to break it up and to protect property.

You always side with the rioters when it does. You generally blame the police for incitement, always criticise their tactics and never blame the rioters.

Happy for you to prove me wrong. There's been loads of threads on here over the years when this topic has been discussed and I challenge you to come up with a single post that proves otherwise.

I'll happily hold my hands up and apologise if you can.

Saying the police acted wrongly isn’t the same as saying protestors acted correctly. I think I’ve only ever discussed it around two topics - maybe more but don’t recall.
I’m not sure what I’ve previously argued changes whether a particular incident is wrong or right.

Police using aggressive and unwarranted tactics to quell protest is more worrying to me than some protestors acting aggressively.

It's the fundamentals where we disagree. You say you are more worried by police violence than protester violence. From my view, if you didn't have protester violence then you don't get police violence. Police don't start the violence.

Now and again they overreact and I criticise them if I see this. Like dragging people off and 2 or more laying into them with batons. But all I've seen is some shoving using the shields and attempts at street clearing with dogs on leashes and police horses.

Exactly

Hey Bristol......Stay at home.

Yanno..... like the rest of us.
I have no real issues with peaceful protest at all and understand why people may feel aggrieved although during COVID perhaps there’s other ways.

What I do find perplexing is why there haven’t been protests at parliament, who are passing the bill, rather than attacking a police station and vehicles?

No of course not. That would never happen...
