Brands & Silva press conference.

Press conferences are just a necessary thing with the media, something to be endured. Football people are not media professionals, the only requirement is not to make any slip-ups, so you essentially fill the time with soundbytes, and get out of the room as soon as possible.

It's doubly difficult when the two people concerned are still getting to know each other.

We didn't have one with Sam if I am correct, the club were embarrassed by the appointment from the first second. Otherwise in such a media-driven sport, its good to introduce the two people who will be the public face of the club for the next while.

Time for them both to get on with the real business now and I'm sure they have made a start already.

Even if it's only based on appearances, I like Brands, he looks like a calm and collected character with an air of quiet authority and self-confidence. Walsh by contrast looked unsure and over-awed on the few occasions I heard him speak. When the dust settles over the next few weeks and the season begins, a more in-depth sit-down interview with Brands, perhaps on Everton TV, would be very interesting.

Hi guys,
I am from Portugal, a big fan of Benfica but also a Everton fan :) dont know why, maybe because of Duncan Ferguson.
About Marco Silva, I am really excited about him managing Everton, I wanted him in Benfica!

Marco was a regular central defender, started his career as a manager on second league, Estoril was the club. He was champion. Next two years in Estoril he got a 5º and 4º, best ever positions for Estoril. Brillant!
Next he went to Benfica rivals, sporting, he won the cup and 3º place and got fired by the shitty president that they have.
In Olympiacos he did the expected, league champion.
Next you know, Hull, maybe a bit unluck with the injuries... and Watford, for me, was a hasty decision from the board.

Now Everton, a bigger club, I am really confident that he will do a great job.
All the players say good things about him.

Sorry about my english.

did walsh EVER face the media? to me it looked like he shy'd away from it all, secretly knowing his was completely out of his depth and wouldn't of wanted to face any awkward questions..

nice to have a fella whi is in complete control and knows what he wants

...the indication is they spoke for the first time 3 weeks ago after which they both agreed they could work together. I think the partnership is key and they both seem to be on the same page. I like Brands saying it’s pointless signing a player Silva doesn’t want as it demonstrates a joined-up approach with no individual agenda.

We might not be as forward in bringing in new players than we hoped, but i’m sure if there’s an opportunity to get somebody they really both like they will make it happen.
I like the fact he intimated that he didn't sign his contract with us until after he had interviewed and agreed on the manager being lined up. He said something along the lines of he met with Marco and then signed his contract the following day. All seems far to joined up and sensible to be Everton:).

Also like the fact they have now confirmed that they will agree on players to come in. It couldn't work any other way really.

Have to say Eggs I think after many a long year it seems the club are finally turning a corner.

Can imagine that interview being along the lines of brands asking him who he wants out and who in, if he agreed and vice versa with all he said, then can see that being a massive plus sign they are in the same wavelength.

I’d take Martinez first season again in a heartbeat! Imagine if Roberto had someone like Brands to keep him in check... could’ve been a different story...
Haha, yeah i can just picture it, Marcel calling Roberto into his office “Hey Roberto, hows it hanging? Listen guy, drop the phenomenal quotes we have just lost the last five matches! Sort yourself out guy, smell the coffee, or your walking”!

Things could have been so, so different!
