Brands & Silva press conference.

Neither looked like they wanted to be there and, as suggested, we got essentially the same info and thoughts from them they gave us in last week's round of interviews. Not sure what it achieved. Reboot Everton and draw a line under the last two years? I dont think so.

I felt a bit for Brands and Silva, tbh. What can they do? They cant promise success will happen, they can just reiterate that the reintroduction of a style and identity is a key task for them here. FWIW, though, I do get the impression that we have two men itching to get on with the job and see BS three ring circus's like that press conference as a hindrance to them in that respect. Silva looks driven and Brands looks like he has the calm stature for his role.

It's all good. NOW hopefully we'll hear a lot less bollocks and see more action.
Hopefully Dave! It was almost refreshing that it was a ‘non-event’, no BS, no ‘I have been a fan all my life’ cobblers, just a pair of fellers who have literally just started their work, going through the motions with the press gobshites, so they can get outside and start doing what they were paid for! Long may it continue!

I think they will be a lot further on than they are letting on eggs. Silva mentioned he had a small list of players which I'm assuming are targets that he's had for some time and it sounds like Brands was on the blower on Friday ( probably a lot sooner )

They are both aware how short this window is so lets hope we bring in some quality sooner rather than later
Yes, he mentioned big players first but then said not a big list, I gathered he meant a small list of big players.

I also liked that Brands spoke of working together and deciding together on targets.

...the indication is they spoke for the first time 3 weeks ago after which they both agreed they could work together. I think the partnership is key and they both seem to be on the same page. I like Brands saying it’s pointless signing a player Silva doesn’t want as it demonstrates a joined-up approach with no individual agenda.

We might not be as forward in bringing in new players than we hoped, but i’m sure if there’s an opportunity to get somebody they really both like they will make it happen.

Many on here were convince Marcel will call the shots and decides everything with regards to transfer. I’m sure they are looking a bit silly now.

Back to the point, it’s no different from Walsh/Koeman relationship. Both must agree for any signings to go ahead.

Impressive presser from the new Power Couple. They already know who they want ("a short list"), while it was pleasing to hear Marcel has been fielding calls about our players too: let the clear-out begin!
No sign of BK, underlining his diminishing role and apparently a farewell to Rooney ("the door is always open"). Brands came across as very businesslike, while both guys seemed very switched-on.

Very happy to see a clear plan being put into action at last

Totally agree, the authority of Brands and drive of Silva came across very nicely. It felt like Silva wants to be a success whilst playing boss football and Brands wants to calmly sort out the behind the scenes stuff ensuring he can do it, neither of them however really looks like they want to do inane press conferences which is good to see those priorities straight.
