Brands & Silva press conference.

Thought it was a decent press conference, no silly PR guff, good luck to them. It’s about time we started competing not just existing.

I like the fact he intimated that he didn't sign his contract with us until after he had interviewed and agreed on the manager being lined up. He said something along the lines of he met with Marco and then signed his contract the following day. All seems far to joined up and sensible to be Everton:).

Also like the fact they have now confirmed that they will agree on players to come in. It couldn't work any other way really.

Have to say Eggs I think after many a long year it seems the club are finally turning a corner.

First managerial press conference since Moyes where there appeared to be an intent of what is required to get us from the current position to the desired position as a whole.

Martinez gave great soundbites and is charismatic but that can only go so far.
Koeman never looked entirely comfortable/happy from day 1.
Allardyce was just desperation to confirm a dreadful season.

did walsh EVER face the media? to me it looked like he shy'd away from it all, secretly knowing his was completely out of his depth and wouldn't of wanted to face any awkward questions..

nice to have a fella whi is in complete control and knows what he wants

Was gonna say that.

Walsh did a vid when he started then spent most of the time getting a tan "scouting" At least these two look like they're talking to each other.

I remember Koeman almost using his transfer failings on Walsh's doorstep and distancing himself

Neither looked like they wanted to be there and, as suggested, we got essentially the same info and thoughts from them they gave us in last week's round of interviews. Not sure what it achieved. Reboot Everton and draw a line under the last two years? I dont think so.

I felt a bit for Brands and Silva, tbh. What can they do? They cant promise success will happen, they can just reiterate that the reintroduction of a style and identity is a key task for them here. FWIW, though, I do get the impression that we have two men itching to get on with the job and see BS three ring circus's like that press conference as a hindrance to them in that respect. Silva looks driven and Brands looks like he has the calm stature for his role.

It's all good. NOW hopefully we'll hear a lot less bollocks and see more action.
Everything is now seeing result
1. Get rid of dead wood
2. Strengthen positions of need 4-5 quality players
3. See results on the field with good footy

Everything else is just gums moving

The numbers will be important. I cant see us trimming down in one window to about a 23/24 man squad. There's a lot of talk about 35 in the squad now and I can see them shifting maybe 8/9 out and bringing in three to four players on *reasonable* wages. It'll take a few windows to sort out the mess Koeman left here.

Agreed on the numbers between 8-10 out and 3-5 in needs to happen. We could probably drop 15 deadwood players if we could find takers

It's why logically, for me, making Dowell, Lookman, Kenny, DCL, Davies, Holgate integral to that key 23 man squad and getting key players to help around them

Music to my ears.

Sell loads of the guff that we've got, keep the decent young ones that we do have and make a few key signings in positions we need to.

This off-season isn't the one to make massive changes to try and crack the top 4-6. This needs patience after essentially hitting the reset button to two seasons ago.

We have to be patient (easier said than done).

Koeman just went mad like Brewster and bought all of the footballers with seemingly no plan.
