When Marco was asked about Rooney he mentioned that the deal with Atlanta was already done. Was that a Freudian slip of the tongue? who do Atlanta have playing for them that we could be interested in, or is it Klassen going out?

We have just announced that our squad is too big and full of rubbish, can see clubs looking for a bargain and getting it. We are going to lose big time on some of these players, ah well at least we are rich. Don't think the clear out will be as brutal as some think and indeed want simply because we need replacements as well as selling, gonna be a tricky period for our new management team but I think they are up to it, we must get behind them.

It's why logically, for me, making Dowell, Lookman, Kenny, DCL, Davies, Holgate integral to that key 23 man squad and getting key players to help around them
I'd do that. I'd rip it up and begin with a core of players like those (and Baningime) + Pickford, Coleman, Tosun, Walcott, Gueye, and then buy in players to force the others not mentioned out through natural wastage. It'll take a couple of windows at least to do it though.

We need root and branch surgery here and we need to have bold people at the top to start the process now with a big clear out in the next two weeks in order to get some momentum.

lets hope wham still have 20m for snides.

alltho some have forgiven him, I only see him as a disruptful RAT.

CRUSH

We have to be patient (easier said than done).

Koeman just went mad like Brewster and bought all of the footballers with seemingly no plan.
Patient with the football side of things on the pitch; but we have to push as hard as we can to get shut of the best part of this squad. We'll fall short of getting shut of most of them this window, but the intent has to be there to get them out. I dont think we need to be patient with ridding ourselves of a big chunk of 35 players...and that seems to be the message from Brands too.

agree with most of the culls and squads being posted reckon there's still a good chance Jagielka/Baines will still be here for one last season. We need some continuity and experience around the dressing room, even if they are no longer starters.
IMO that would hammer home an unwanted message: 'everything is the same'.

Because that's what retaining those two would do. They are the most senior players and they'll offer hope to those wanting to stay on - but who we want out of the door - that they can hang on.

Sadly they’ve set a culture of mediocrity and accepting inferiority to that lot across the road. They’ve both been good players but that was a long time ago and they are not leaders. Getting rid would show the others that the days of sentimentality and being the happiest nicest club in the prem are gone.

The numbers will be important. I cant see us trimming down in one window to about a 23/24 man squad. There's a lot of talk about 35 in the squad now and I can see them shifting maybe 8/9 out and bringing in three to four players on *reasonable* wages. It'll take a few windows to sort out the mess Koeman left here.

I'd rather see if the youth on loan can come back and be given a fair shake in pre-season before we starting signing loads of new players. If they can slot straight into the first 11, sure sign 'em up. Otherwise we need to get rid of these high wage players who take up space and get the odd game here and there.

Comedy gold that....

Nae more Kone's, Martina's or Alcaraz's instead of utilising our academy players please and thank you.

To clarify i'm not bothered whether they stay or go. I hardly think their presence is detrimental to a new dawn at EFC by being squad players. wastes of space like Bolasie. Mirallas, williams, schneiderlin, mccarthy (the real wage suckers), misfits sandro, funes mori and klaassen should be priority.

Forgot about Beni. But you're right and I've said all along the damage Koeman and Walsh have done is criminal and it needs steady and deep remediation.

I hope it looks like it's going that way. I can't for the life of me think of a club where the DOF is actively and openly involved in the squad rebuild as much as the manager.
