Come on mate, you're not at all concerned after that? As bad as anything I've seen in recent times that, pre-season or not.

He does, he’s been central to some of the worst midfields we’ve had. He’s just been given the run around by Blackburn now. He can’t create and doesn’t cover the defence so why does he do?

I'm starting to think Gana is a bigger problem than Schneiderlin. He was excellent in his first 6 months, while playing alongside Barkley who carried the ball forward. He's not really been right since he hasn't played defensive midfield on his own.

Alright, everyone calm the F down.

We completely dominated the second half, but it's obvious we aren't good enough at CB. Holgate is hurt, Jags can't cut it anymore, but otherwise, I'm not too concerned with the bad play of guys like Besic or Mirallas that aren't going to play an important role this year anyways.

Tosun didn't finish well tonight, but he'll be fine, it's preseason, he's rusty.

But to say we don't have a plan is just stupid or unobservant. If you can't see how Silva wants to use his CBs, and DMs to spring the outside backs from the back, I just don't know what to tell you. He's doing EXACTLY what he's done everyone else. To say we can't execute is quite another thing and true, but mostly because of the limitations of the jokers we had back there in the second half.

Keep in mind, he has NOT fully put in with any level of rigor his counter attacking style. That's his bread and butter and will require quite a bit of positional work and awareness.

But to look at our personnel a bit more closely:

OUTSIDE BACK: Coleman looked great. Baines needs replaced, but Jedi, JonJoe, the outside backs once we get Digne are really good.
STRIKER: Tosun got in all the right places but didn't finish, and we know he can finish. Niasse didn't get any service, who knows. It's not a strength, but it's fine.
DM/CMs: Gueye looked great, Morgan looks better, Besic was a mess, Davies inconsistent, but we are going to add here. One strong number 8 and we are fine.
ACM: Gylfi is fine. There are options for backup, Lookman, Davies, Dowell, but we are fine.
Wing/Inside Fwd: Ricarlison looks great, we know Walcott is good, Sandro even looks decent, Lookman has talent, we are fine.
CB: Ok, it's a disaster. Holgate is decent, we know Jags is washed up, we know Keane is a mess although is footskills were good today, Williams is awful, and Pennington is horrendous. But we know someone like Mina and maybe two are coming in.

Stopped reading at "outside backs". Christ.

Hard watching that but it is still only a pre-season game, they all looked tired and hopefully that was from training hard. We will look completely different when we are preparing for a game properly. The pitch looked heavy and slow too, so might have been hard to play at pace and could have been a factor in starting slowly. Also Atkinson was awful!

On the plus side Richarlison looked bright!

For me, he was excellent playing with Barry because he was great on the ball. Since Barry left we haven’t got a midfielder who could keep the ball and pass it out

We can’t have both innthe same midfield, but Gueye doesn’t have the passing range to be the holding mid Silva wants. The rest of the team is so slow though that if Gueye doesn’t play we struggle to get the ball back at all. It’s a complete mess. Pace power and creativity is needed in every position yet Everton have paid a lot of money to get players with only one or none of these attributes.

Saw admittedly parts of it through the crap stream and saw some crap playing. But honestly,no. There are some major, major changes going on and it will take more time than we like to implement it. Do I expect it in a few weeks? Not in the slightest

weird comment this. Gana is our only midfielder who can apply pressure on attacking players. When hes used properly then he is very effective. He works very well in a high press system but other players have to go with him as hes not a great dribbler or passer. Hes a ball winner.

Not a knee jerk reaction, but this is bad. The defence didn't defend, the attack dorsn't look like being able to score and our midfield is creating little or nothing.

I have defended Jags in the past but he was brushed aside for the third goal.

We will struggle badly this season without a major shake up.

Jags has one good game in 6 and really cant be defended anymore. We have being doing it for years. We can defend him for him not being able to defend. Need a new starting center half. Jags williams sold asap

That’s not enough now though, our midfield is run through by average opposition and we don’t create chances. He could be N’Golo Kante but frankly we can’t carry that sort of player now unless we fix other positions. We need creativity in midfield and defensive intelligence, Gueye has neither.
