Black Saturday

We've took 5 points out of 9 against three very average teams. We've also made hard work out of getting all of the points we have.

We were hanging onto that win against Southampton at home.

I hate to break this to you, but we ARE a very average team. Only Richarlison out of the new signings has played any significant part in the opening 3 games. Have you forgotten that our team has actually been crap for years?

We haven't made a good start, we've had a very average start to the season.
You call it average, I call it good compared to last year, with basically the same team. Regardless of the description of our play it does not need his level of negativity after 3 games. We will go through a bad patch, as all teams do, what will it be like then?

FFS stop it.

Silva`s got almost a complete rebuilding job to do.

We`re playing half decent footy again, the players seem happy to be playing again, nearly all of the dead wood has been shifted, we`ve strengthened in nearly all the areas that need strengthening, we`re scoring goals again and we`re unbeaten in three.

Yes the defending isn`t great, but with the the two new lads to come in, hopefully that will improve.

There`s many more positives than negatives.

Best give up now then, eh?

We actually only have 1 point more than at this same stage last year, only then we had already played 2 out of the top 4, including the eventual Champions away from home.

Well you can if you’re a crybaby toddler that wants instant gratification spoon fed to them on a day to day basis, but for the rest of us that understand building a competitive side takes time, hard work and patience, we’ll just be over here observing our growth and seeing how the process unfolds.

I totally agree with the above 2 posts but I'd still call our start to the season average.

3 wins would have been a great start, 2 wins a good start, the win and 2 draws is pretty average but it's better than any defeats which would have been poor.

We're at the start of another transition and moving in the right direction but there's still work to be done. We have Mina, Zouma and Digne to come in and sure up the defence but there's no guarantee they'll click straight away. Once the teams gels and starts to play well and gets the results, then I'll say things are going good. It can still go either way.

I do have to admit to a huge chuckle when I see this thread title - it's so melodramatic! It's not like we've even lost a game yet and are still bedding in a new system and have numerous upgrades to our players to come in.

A few avoidable individual mistakes and we have a couple of sending offs and some needless decisions against us such as Baines's lumbering penalty 'challenge' and we get "Black Saturday"?!?

Achhhh. Stop bellyaching. There's plenty of stuff that needs working on. Did you not expect that? Can you not see the attacking intent of the new manager? Can you also not see that he has a defensive system too that will need time to bed in? Obviously this will all not happen overnight, and vigilance against poor performance is our duty, but at this moment I am not seeing something so terrible that we need to rally against it, and in fact there are enough signs of progress that at this moment, I will support the team, players and manager whole-heartedly.

I like how you've transitioned to moaning about the transfer window, to whinging about the early season. I look forward to your next series of miserable posts.

Did you park your Sixty Grand persona?

It's been an average start. People claiming it as something it isn't are just setting us up to fail. Desperate to cling on to anything.

There are some serious concerns in our approach to the game. Losing 2-0 leads isn't acceptable and picking players like Baines and Jagielka, knowing they're done, is also a concern.

Obviously there are players still to come in and hopefully that will help us.

Nothing short of three home wins on the run now is good enough.

I've actually only expressed concern after Saturday's game. Y'know, the one where we threw away 2 goals in the space of 5 minutes?

But ok.
