Big spending Everton,

you have missed the point.
its about the media and other not liking us spend and try to be ambitious.

other teams are spending similar

That’s a very fair point , they don’t like us trying to break out of our current situation and hopefully shake things up . I said ok another thread they didn’t like our loans , they didn’t like us chasing Carlo for me they just want the status quo maintained.

Anyone else getting fed up with this media agenda where Everton are concerned? Every article about us is big spenders this, free spending that when others spend way more and nothing is said? But whether it is Sky or the written press every journo refers to us as big spenders it drives me crazy. Our wage bill is well below the "top six" (Leicester not included in this) our transfer record is well below the others too but this is never mentioned, nor is the years and years of no investment for the 20 years previous to Moshiri.

There's a big six monopoly and we're not invited so they're not liking our gate crashing...

The difference with Leicester was it was a fairytale story so they allowed it but teams like Everton wanting to actually improve - no not allowed.

If it's in the context of FFP then the same rules apply to Everton as all other clubs. We hardly get special dispensation. There will be consequences if we fall foul of the regulations.

I can understand criticism of our supposed model and the considerable amount of money invested for no return. That is bound to raise comment.

The crux is that the media promote success, but seemingly hate ambition and a desire to improve.

Criticise our mistakes by all means, but this is supposed to be elite sport, so jeering at our ambition is actually quite thick.

To get into the top four a club needs to be spending around 150m plus for just the spine of the team, unless you can develop youngsters into world-class players!

We haven't gone above 45m. Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool all have!

35m now was like 15m just 5 years ago. We have shown we cannot attract world-class talent.

Carlo has bought some of his old mates on the way down in the hope they can resurrect whatever form they had. He has not bought young players, hungry to impress who have world-class potential.

Ridiculous

Another difference is we pay for our transfer mistakes . Others just write it off and go again . United bought out Sanchez contract for 9 mil for example. Wish we could do that with the likes of Siggy.

he’s not talking about us wasting money, he’s talking about the media, other clubs, fans, etc ex players, who seem to hate the fact we have money and we are spending it to try and get succesful
Tbh most of the media just seem to question us spending lavish amounts for little return.
