Maybe 10 years service. But what a way to end the pre season. Talking about his passion/stupidity, what might have been, slagging off a ref, how the football world bent towards the RS etc. All the ingredients for a bigger crowd.

I can see that reasoning yeah. Intensity and sharpening up for the new season. That's about the only bit of logic I can see in this though.

Why would we give a testimonial to someone who played for the EFC 1st team for a grand total of 5 years, 1 of those years being a poor loan spell that ended in disgrace with Moyes trying to send him back to Wenger for a breach of club discipline?

Ig it's going into DFs pocket or charity then it makes no difference for the club's coffers.

I think these things are usually split between the club and the charity.

A charity game is to raise money for a specific cause. A 'testimonial' is the word given to a game honouring an individual. It will still raise money for charity. Every EFC testimonial in at least the last 10 years has seen all the money go to charity. No one at EFC pockets the money in this day and age.

The word 'legend' is relative. Having only known the tail end of Smith, Moyes and Martinez era, the only 2 who come close for me is Dunc and Cahill.

Should be boss if he gets on and scores.

Are people really getting upset and annoyed at a marketing ploy to raise a lot of money for charity whilst also providing us with a good quality of opposition for our last pre season game?

Any excuse to kick out at the club it seems for some 'Evertonians'.

I'd include Campbell myself, having the same Era, I grew up with seeing Campbell save us and be passionate without worrying if he'll get sent off.
