I don't know if your statement was tongue in cheek but don't let pre season fool you into thinking that any of them teams mentioned above are better than Liverpool.

Pre season is a time to gain fitness and experiment. Unfortunately for us Martinez doesn't even want to entertain the thought of experimenting on us building an attack. Time will be the judge but I will put my house on us being toothless again this season. Vault me

We experimented last season instead of focusing on fitness - the main objective of pre-season. Yes i'd have liked to have seen a bit more flexibility in the systems deployed by RM this weekend, but at least our players look fit (before they all got injured, like).

It's too early to start this anti-Martinez stuff lads. At least wait until we lose a couple of games.

Pre-season went well (down to Martinez and the players training like pros); now we need players in (down to the fraud chairman to sort out).
It's not anti-martinez. Well it might be for Saint-Domingo but not me.

It's anti-status quo. Even with everyone fit (I don't include Pienaar and Gibson because they will never be fit for any length of time) we have only Deulofeu and Mirallas for the wings that are in any way decent plus only one striker.

That's the reality and due to this we don't create any chances. Is that Martinez's fault? Is it the boards? Do we need to sell someone to strengthen these areas? I don't know what the answer to these questions are but those question need to be asked now while we can still in theory fix them.

You the censor police or something? Why don't you let people actually air an opinion on here without calling them something offensive? Your wannabe mod behaviour is the only thing making anyone look like a tit.
If that opinion is that of a a tit then you'll be called out for it, same as what we've done since the first day on the forum.

Just post sound. It's not that hard. You're fooling no one by trying to be edgy.

NEA about the score, the atmosphere at the end was electric!

We need replacements for Barry, Osman, Naismith and Kone and add Howard to that. They are weak links. Still think our defence with Coleman, Baines, Jags and Stones still looks very suspect. If Baines and Coleman didn't have those attacking qualities then I would say they are average at best defenders. Our midfield players are static and are half the reason we are pedestrian with the ball. VR showed us the way with exploiting space and movement off the ball. More high energy is needed this season. If Mirallas and Lukaku miss the start of the season with Del then I cannot see how we will create anything from open play. We still play some good footy but its usually halted by a Naismith wayward pass or back passing. A playmaker is a must at all costs before the season starts or we will be blunt.

Barry really isn't a weak link. I'm the first to give him stick if he deserves it, but he's looked sharp this pre-season. I think Cleverley (and a fit Besic) give us two really good options which means Barry won't play every game, and also will have to play at his best to keep in the starting XI.

Booing was sporadic and in the massive minority. I was actually surprised by how good his reception was to be honest.

What a bellend.

Highlight of the match? Other than the big man coming on it had to be the cheers for the Villareal subs bizarre warm up routine on the touchline (and their subsequent applause back to the crowd).

We desperately need a playmaker and backup striker like.
Maybe we should copy it. We might not get so many injuries.

........I want to enjoy watching us.
I'm with you Eggs. Last season's watch was an experience I am loath to re-experience. I have not watched 1 second of pre-season but from general forum 'chat', I'm gleaning things (style-wise), are not looking promising.
Still, we live in hope (which ultimately kills us...Everton aren't we?)

I really wouldn't base our performances on what you read on here.

At the moment, I'd be happy enough for our players to now have sufficient muscle strength in their legs to avoid further hamstring injuries etc and get through the whole match vs. Watford without falling over exhausted on 80 mins.

The rest we can blag on the day.

But starting a new season with Kone and Naismith being our cover for Lukaku is seriously scary.
