Big Dunc testimonial - EFC vs Villareal at Goodison, Sun Aug 2nd

I'd question whether Villareal are very good considering how may points they were off fourth in a three team league and have just sold their best striker. Also are they anywhere near match sharpness? Probably not considering their season is still three weeks away. I don't know why there's an impression that Kone is the only thing wrong with this team. It was clear all last season with Lukaku playing up top. The tactics are wrong, there's no balance in midfield, and no creativity. It was seen again today. I know this team can keep possession across the back 4 and 'move teams around'. I also know it couldn't penetrate a paper bag. Apparently pointing it out though makes you a massive WUM. If this pre-season has genuinely left people feeling positive for what is ahead then I will be surprised. If people just want to cling to blind faith and optimism then each to their own.
Or alternatively we can just try and have a balanced view instead of trying too hard to be dead angry about Everton.

Just makes you look a tit.

Villarreal four season's ago took apart a Moyes team ear marked for a CL finish. Men against boys stuff.

Today we looked the better outfit. I'm not arse about the result. Over the 90 minutes we were the better outfit.

Now THAT is something to work with. Villarreal would obliterate the likes of Liverpool and Spurs. No question.

We only started looking like scoring when two players who don't even play for us came on. We were absolutely cack and nothing has changed since last season

Absolute dream world. Referencing a game four years ago? Both Villareal and Everton are completely different teams. Based on that erformance Villareal would not obliterate Spurs or Liverpool, they looked poor which is understandable given their state of pre-season. Depsite this they still had more than enough to see us off. We had a bit more possession and looked a bit sharer but absolute zero quality in comparison. If not for Howard we could have been 3 or 4 down. We had about two shots on target, one from a player who doesn't play for us and another from a corner.

You want everything to look bleak mate because you want the manager gone. I understand where you're coming from.

There's almost nothing you wont use to try and help achieve the feel bad factor.

Harsh but true. We had absolutely no quality once Mirallas went off.

Osman is too slow. Barkley doesn't know what he's doing, he just seems to be riddled with self doubt. Kone and Nasimith are like defenders for the opposition team - In fact they both would get 9.0 whoscored ratings because they break up everyone of our attacks.

You the censor police or something? Why don't you let people actually air an opinion on here without calling them something offensive? Your wannabe mod behaviour is the only thing making anyone look like a tit.

Naismith doesn't do a job. He's awful when played up by himself or with Kone.

We need a striker when Rom is injured. Without Rom in the team we didn't score in pre-season until Duncan and Rooney came on.

So if that happens in the league we can essentially kiss goodbye to any points any games he misses.

btw - The games I've referring to are. Swindow, Stoke, Scottish teams and Leeds.

Not exactly top quality opposition either.

So spending £15million+ on a bench warmer? Jordan Rhodes is touted at that price. Its nuts.

If we get someone for a decent price, I agree. But I don't see why we should be paying high for a back-up striker.

No coincidence for me we went poor as soon as Mirallas went off, it's clear without an out and out winger in the side we struggle hence the 1 winger system of last season seeing us totally predictable.

Naismith I would argue is worse than Kone, Kone atleast can run the channels some what whereas Naismith does absolutely nothing up top. Both not good enough and it's clear we need a playmaker and striker.

Bobby needs to promote browning to 3rd choice CB and use that £8-10 million to try get a back up striker in

The fact is we were comfortable and playing well apart from being light up front, which anyone would if Kone was playing.

Second half wasn't as good as we lost our rhythm with Mirallas and McCarthy going off and it took a while to settle again. Conceded a goal from poor marking and Coleman maybe not going in as hard as he normally would for a tackle in case he hurt himself.

Those who are all doom and gloom are being over the top negative IMO.

The signs are there that we are a team on a downward spiral

Relegation is still a possibility with Martinez in charge,Hopefully Kenwright gives him the bullet before the rot sets in deep
