2025/26 Beto

I’ve said it a few times, but I do believe Beto will get you 15 goals a season at least, if we play to his strengths like we did yesterday, the balls into feet with his back to goal isn’t the way he plays, running onto the balls, which I must say yesterday the 2 assists, 2 through balls to him, were brilliant, and well the first finish was brilliant.
The trouble is though, you don’t always play against teams who will allow you space in behind.

But tbf to him, I’ve seen a few instances the past couple of weeks where his general forward play has shown signs of improvement. Using his body better, controlling it in tight areas, not letting his defender draw a foul etc.

Hopefully he keeps it up. We’re going to need it in the run in.

Remember when he went on his scoring run last season then we played Bournemouth (possibly) who had clearly done their prep better, and the defence stood off, didn't let him get in behind and our whole plan fell apart. Playing to strengths is fine against half arsed teams and naive managers, as soon as it’s nullified he doesn’t have enough to do anything else.
Thought other parts of his game had improved towards the end of the season but for the majority of this season he has been very poor and we should look to sell in the summer.
That’s why we need better full backs who can cross the ball properly then you will see Beto at his best lots of chances from crosses and through balls. Hoofing the ball up to him when we sometimes run out of any kind of ideas not even the best striker on the planet could do much with that. Yes through balls he thrives off and teams will figure that out as you said but if we can have better crosses to him the odd of scoring from those go up big time. We hardly put any decent ones in

A very likeable fella. If only he was more consistent and not dribs and drabs. Here's hoping his decent run of form continues till the end of the season.

Agree with all the shouts about his character and what a good egg he is.

Undoubtedly Chelsea was the best game I've ever seen him play.

If he could replicate that on a consistent basis he'd been an excellent back up striker.

I still say we should sell both Barry and Beto and replace with better but that maybe asking too much , in which case shop Barry out and keep Beto as back up.

That's why you have different options. Our big issue is we keep signing the same profile of striker all the time. Replacing Beto with Barry or vice versa if something isn't working is not great as they will give similar results.
