2025/26 Beto

I thought a few of the Chelsea players looked like they were playing within themselves even with a champions league place on the line.
Toxic little club.
Not just you my friend, the few players that went to clap the away end and the manager were getting a serious rollicking from the few Chelsea fans remaining. All is not very well at all there. For all the money they do not feel like a serious club currently.

Beto is an extremely likeable person and seems very popular with players and fans alike but I still think he will leave this summer.
His recent performances and goals will have helped restore his value but we need a more reliable striker.

Barry is younger and probably a better long term prospect and I think may be better again next season , I realise his form this season has been mixed but at times we have seen what a good player he may yet be.
Actually, I would keep Beto.
For the simple reason that: you need a decent squad ( especially if we qualify for Europe) and secondly, that whoever striker comes in, is actually better than what we have and given our recent history, there is no guarantee of that.
Beto is technically limited but you get physicality, work rate and roughly 8-10 goal a season.
We need a top class striker and they cost big bucks, but we also need back up.

Thing is when you don’t play to someone’s strengths that’s what happens. Beto will make runs in behind but it’s finding that killer pass. He’s done it a few times now. Palace away last year, Liverpool at home, Chelsea at home. He’s a bit like Barry in that he isn’t the best with the ball at his feet but he’s better than Barry in all the other aspects. His header for N’diayes goal was quality but just shows you what can happen when you commit men forward. Too many times Barry has won headers but because he’s been in a number ten position nobody has been there to latch on.

Got to say he defo looks like he's improving. Even against Arsenal he was doing little things that had me thinking 'you wouldn't. or couldn't, do that a couple of seasons ago'.

Obviously 2 games is a small sample size and it's entirely possible some of the touches and bits of play might have been a bit flukey and he'll go back to having a poor first touch etc, so he needs to keep it up. Promising signs nonetheless

Interesting thought: Beto has played 1,205 PL minutes (13.4 x 90 mins) and scored 6 goals. Barry has played 1, 645 minutes (18.3 x 90mins) and scored 6 goals. So between them, they've pretty much shared the load. Their minutes combined add up to just over 31 games (90 mins) which funnily enough (or not  ) is the amount of games we've played. 12 goals combined, so my question is, if we'd had one striker playing every game and they were currently on 12 goals, would we view that as decent?

Agree with this. We only had a chance and scored because we were 2-0 up already. If we weren't, it's likely no one would have been gambling.
