We can talk about throwing her in jail forever , chopping her head off or like the Home Secretary has done banning her from returning but none of those things are going to happen . If she can afford it and organise the logistics she’ll return to the U.K. , like it or not she’s British citizen and has the right to return. Given the available legislation it looks like the worst case scenario for her would be a couple of years in prison and that seems only possible rather than probable.

Everything else is an exercise in unnecessary anger . Rather than pandering to public opinion The Home Secretary should be concentrating on legislation that can perhaps tackle the problem or at least broaden the ability of the police and courts to charge in these circumstances and the effectively sentence and also looking at how to prevent this kind of issue arising at source .once she returns I’ve no doubt we’ll see some attempt at de-radicalisation but given her apparent attitude I’m unconvinced how successful that will be . It’s amazing how one case has caught public interest and created debate whilst hundreds of actual jihadi’s seem to have returned to the U.K. without any type of fanfare .

I don't think it is unnecessary, I think it's legitimate anger.

What sort of message does this send out to similarly vulnerable people who may go over? If they don't get punished for joining a brutal terrorist organisation where they chop peoples heads off for sport?

I have no idea of the number who have returned but I am just as angry about them if they have been allowed back in with no repercussions. What about her parents as well, I hope the role they've played is looked in to, if they have played a part in her leaving in the first place. I accept she was 15 when she went over and that needs to be taken in to account, but being 15 doesn't excuse any action. At 15, you are still aware of what is acceptable as a human and she clearly has an awful sense of what is acceptable given what I heard her say in the interview.

Needs locking up for a long time if she gets back here in my opinion. That baby doesn't need such a hateful, reckless and stupid mother in his life either. One who has already selfishly contributed to the deaths of 2 of his siblings.

I think you misunderstand me , I’m happy for her to be punished I advocated it in that post and in many of my previous posts . My point is the home Secretary can’t stop her returning so why pretend he can , he knows that so it’s pointless and empty rhetoric . What he should be doing is be passing legislation to tackle the problem and supporting funding for the police and security services to tackle the very real problem .

This girls association with the UK should have been removed as soon as she decided to join up with that murderous crackpot regime.
To now claim she didn’t know what she was getting into is utter bull crap.

I’d be happy with that if we could pass effective legislation to that effect but I don’t think you can make somebody stateless so basically you’re howling at the moon . People are angry at her and that’s fair enough I think a fair proportion of that anger should be direction at those in power who have done absolutely nothing to tackle a situation that was certain to develop . This girl has just captured publicity the hundreds before her are just as much if not more of a problem but what’s been done ? Nothing

I don't understand why she is still considered a British Citizen. Surely the moment she betrayed the country by joining our enemy, it should have been taken away?

How though ? You can’t jusr say you aren’t British any more , that’s the point it’s not something that can be done on a whim . It seems you cannot leave an individual stateless and she has only British citizenship but even if you could we have no powers to do so .

I don't see why that is a law tbh. The girl didn't want to be British when she left and judging by her comments still doesn't.

She shouldn’t be allowed back under any circumstances, she made her bed now she can lay in it. If ISIS was still a caliphate she wouldn’t want to come back. Her beliefs will be deep rooted, she felt ok seeing a head in a bin.
If she does manage to get back and in years to come does something awful we’re normal British citizens die then shame on all the do gooders. Our country is a joke.

Cameron hinted he was going to pass legislation to let us revoke citizenship of the British born and that was years ago , nothing happened. I can see itd make sense and if it was properly written and lawful I’m not sure too many would have a massive problem with it but like I say I don’t think we can do it . Even if we can though we can’t do it cause we feel like , we have to do things properly and that’s why much of this debate is a bit of a waste because the government have done nothing to tackle it .

Who are these do Gooders of which you speak I don’t think anybody is doing anything remotely in support of her other than her family and her solicitor . I get you don’t want her back , I’m not sure anybody does but we can’t just say you’re not coming in because the law doesn’t allow it , I don’t think the law allows it in any country in the world . If she comes back and there’s enough evidence I hope she’s arrested and convicted but I can’t see how anything else is an available option .

The chutzpah of the family lawyer is unbelievable.
Straight faced without any hint of irony, he is once again heaping all the blame on the UK authorities for the pathway that led to the girl leaving as a fifteen year old. And as I said in another post, he is advocating that these selfsame authorities be waiting on the runway to sweep up this broken little girl and help her get better.
He seems to be reacting to the drip feed of snippets of The Times and Sky interviews. After these latest releases he's now saying she has shell shock akin to the first world war troops.
The whole thing now is turning into a soap opera.

She's obviously a total fruit-loop. Even though she's seen some crazy stuff, I very much doubt she took an active role in any of the jihadi shenanigans out there. If she had then I'm sure our intelligence services will figure this out for themselves and then bring criminal charges against her.

meantime I don't have an issue with her returning, subject to a full detailed debrief and investigation into her activities in beardy-land. If she does have charges to answer then get the CPS onto it and put her in the dock and let a judge and jury decide her guilt or innocence.

If she is guilty of stuff then she does time for it, if not then stick her on a watch list and re-education program. end of
