All brassicas are amazing.

Except Kale.

Obviously.

I love Kale, lightly fried in XV olive oil with toasted sesame seeds, lemon juice and sea salt. It's delicious, really.

Also love broad beans, boiled, drained and then add butter (margarine), garlic and salt. Heat gently for a further 5 minutes.

I'm growing both broad beans and kale this year.

I've gone for Pentland Brig variety of Kale which sounds quite promising. It obviously starts in the standard way, with lots of bitter leaves (I'll have to try your way of cooking it), but then the magic happens in August. It sprouts broccoli-like spears! Looking forward to that.

Fresh broadbeans are one of life's treasures, picked straight off the plant. Supermarkets must keep them locked in a shed for a month because they don't even taste similar.

Got to be onions... think about it.

Bhajis, cheese and onion, hotdog onions, onion rings, steak and onions, French onion soup, need I go on?

You could be right there. Onions are fantastic.

Most stuff would be bland without them and they are pretty fine just roasted on their own.

I have been known to eat onions like apples.

When I was a student like.

Just planted a couple of rows of broad beans, with some spinach, peas and sweetcorn. Didn't have time this year to prepare much ground, but can't wait for it all to be ready.

You can't buy Kale in Denmark, and it took ages to locate the broad beans. I'm furious.
