"Britain must take its responsibility and limit its economic attractiveness.

"Britain left Europe, but not the world. We need to work seriously on these questions, without being held hostage by domestic British politics."

Imagine if that happened - imagine how many people would lose their heads here and say it was evil. That's what Darmanin said.
Well we did implement Brexit, which is limiting our economic attractiveness in order to reduce immigration so we have form...

Britain left the EU, but not Europe…and I believe the domestic politics he refers to are all about next year’s Presidential elections……toys and prams immediately come to mind……

Come off it Bruce, our economic attractiveness has suffered how exactly ? Perhaps it’s that Royal Dutch Shell is ditching the two centre HQ and only retaining the London HQ and renaming itself Shell….

well we must do more according to our dear French friend
The French have long had a peculiar (IMO) labour market, and it doesn't help those who are not embedded within it, either by being young and therefore new to it, or newly arrived in the country and also new to it. I wouldn't pay too much heed to his remarks tbh.

You'll have to forgive my reluctance to bother Pete, as this question has been raised so many times before and any evidence presented has been ignored so many times before. There is nothing I can say that could change your mind so it seems pointless to even engage.

By economic attractiveness I am assuming that M Darmanin was referring to attractiveness for migrants.
That is the prolific on the black job market that exists in the UK.
Very regulated in France.
It is one of the attractions for migrants. As I have been told several times, "go England get job, no papers no problem."
You can't get a job in France without formal ID.

Why once they have espcared the war torn countries they come from (which I 100% agree with), making it safely into Europe, do they then risk their lives and their families lives to cross another notorious channel and get to the UK?

A variety of reasons have been suggested already on this thread if you care for scroll back
