although obviously you should carry on brushing properly...or whatever the football equivalent of that is

Plus after two years, he might do a turn around and sign a new contract, if we tell him to honour his contract, recken he would cos he professional. don't recken he would go on strike.

of all the players I have seen in a blue shirt he seems one of the most down to earth with integrity to match. can't see him doing anything other than give 100 per cent whatever happens

chances are theirs not been any moves on a new contract for various reasons, one that springs to mind most readily is that with the new tv deals driving any incoming wages for new players higher - which is pretty much a surety, that baines agent etc is waiting for thhat to be in the club before renegotiating for what effectively will be baines last BIG contract - can see him easily doing a five year 90-100k per week contract just before the window shuts in aug.

The man u rumours are just that, only good for the next days chippy paper, if he was ever going to have gone it would have been during last summer. But the reason its printed ad nauseam by the rags is it gets people reading them. Baines is in modern football a very rare type who prioritizes being happy and settled at a team he loves being at over chasing the 'dream' of playing the utd, chelski, madrid, psg, et al

Im proud to call him a everton player, theirs rarely been a finer man to have worn the shirt imo - helps he is bloody good at this footy lark too ;p

Clubs brief media about this crap all the time. It's an old tactic, has been going on donkeys years, but is ever more brazen and outlandish as the number of media outlets has risen exponentially, and player values / salaries have also risen hugely.

The Mirror has been a Man U patsy for decades. Ever since the '50s. When Man U were a laughing stock in the 70s/80s they never got on their backs. When we were all-too-briefly sweeping most before us in the mid-80s, we got barely any recognition with that rag as we'd never cultivated it.

As others have pointed out, Man U won't buy players in their late 20s for big money unless there's a bloody good case - RVP classic case in point. Again as others have pointed out if Moyes starts raiding Everton too much the Man U fans will be dropping their noodle ramen bowls in horror.

Last year the Mirror was flogging Baines to Man U for £5m. Today they're selling Evra (32) to Monaco for £10m, to open the way for buying Baines. Can no-one see anything slightly wrong in that?

Like a few on have said and I now agree that he would be better of getting Shaw and turning him into a baines.

Lord knows I'm no defender of Moyes but he has as much right as any other manager to bid for any of ours this idea of chivalry among football folk is madness. The whole ethos of Utd since SAF is cherry picking the best of the Prem it strengthens them and kills the opposition he would be a fool not to carry it on.

Normally I would agree with you, but with Moyes I think the situation was different because he stayed on as our manager even after accepting another job. This isn't the end of the world, but if he were to then go in for our players the very next summer, I think it would have been a clear conflict of interest to keep him on. As our manager he had an inappropriate amount of access to the players for someone who's allegiance now clearly lie elsewhere.

Moyes was a professional about managing us for the last two games of the season, but no man in the world would be professional enough not to tap-up players he planned to buy when he's managing them on the training ground etc.

I'm hoping he won't go in for Coleman because of Rafael, and I would be very angry if he groomed Jagielka to be captain only to take him to another club. It's all conjecture of course, we'll have to see.

Yea my guess is he'll sign a new one with a year left. He's usually not a tit about contract negotiations, but this would be his last chance at a big contract and in my opinion he has every right to hold out at least a year to make sure he is properly compensated.

...interesting if Moyes Everton valuation of Baines (as a selling Manager) is the same as his Man Utd valuation (as a buying Manager). When here he probably informed Bill of a figure the club should get if we decided to sell.

If we sold him it'd be the first time I'd probably get a little glassy-eyed about losing a player...never happened with anyone before but I dunno if I'd be able to hack losing him. Must be kept at all costs, unless he wants to go himself...which would depress me even more.

Will the love affair with the ex end if he signs Baines.Hopefully people are starting to see the truth.Moyes is not Everton and never was.Not only did he treat us with a lack of respect by not waiting a couple of weeks. He is now back to sign our best.

You of course do realise football is a professional sport don't you. Grow up.

Fabio is uber-gash. Rafael is the brother who will make it.
Ive said many a time, Luke Shaw makes better sense for United.

This.

Baines (27) for 20m, or Shaw (how old, 20?) for like 7.5?

He'll go with Shaw, especially since Evra will still be left back this season.
