"I just got the impression that Leighton had his heart set on a move to Everton. I don't blame him for that."

to quote roy keane!!

i've heard he is a red on other sites though.

Isn't he valued at something like £4.5m? I hope we get him, but it's a very slight hope; Kenwright will want to pay 50p a week over the next 174,000 years, depending on appearances.

If we get him now, it gives him a chance to 'bed in' whilst valente is imparting his wisdom and experience to him. I hope if we get him moyes is signing a solid left back that is a good defender before anything else.

defence is for defenders ;)

I read that on the BBC website I'm confused as to which player that we own is worth 2 million. Surely Carsley is worth more in this transfer market.

And even more latest we have improved our offer and left out Lee Carsley or James McFadden or whoever else we were offering, according to The Post.

On Everton TV last night they were showing Baines in the box, looking casual and relaxed and chatting away, and McCarthy was with his mate Pienaar who apparently couldn't play because of some permit holdup (but will be OK for the weekend).

Yeh its got to happen soon hast it?! He was at Goodison after we had an offer rejected.

Definitely, Wigan had a friendly yesterday at Barnsley so I get the feeling that Wigan have pretty much given up on Baines aswell.

If Bains does sign i expect that no wingers will be ssigned all our with will come form full backs with Neville and Bains getting forward as much as possible. This may lead to a compact diamond midfeild with cahill at the top, Cars anchoring and arteta and pienaer on the flanks. Should still be a 4-4-2, it might just work.
