Baines rejects a new contract

I agree Baines is nailed on- he is a decent left back with lots of energy. That back line is looking quite exciting me thinks:

Hibbert**Yobo**Lescott**Baines

OR

Neville**Stubbs**Jags**Valente

Either would do a job.

Hope we sign him.. Even though we have players able to cover LB (Boyle, Lescott, Valente) I'd prefer to have Lescott in the middle and then we might need another one... and he's young and would be available for many years.

Improved offer??

MY first choice would be

Neville-Yobo-Lescott-Baines

We have the makings of a special season coming :)

Personally mine would be:

Jags**Yobo**Lescott**Baines

That back four has got youth, pace, aerial ability and technique that could be a bedrock on which we grow for years to come.

I haven't seen much of Jags, so I don't know his best position. I included Baines as he is useful going forward (though I haven't seen enough of him to be impressed). If Moyes signs him, thats good enough for me (actually it is good enough for me, Moyes has bid for him.)

New formation suggests Neville as a midfielder not a defender. Valente had a good first half but tappered off in the second. Baines will be a great one here at the club. It is exciting for our back to be sorted. I expect Jags & Hibbo fighting it out on the right with Yobo, Lescott sorted in the middle and Baines on the left. Things are shaping up.(y)

You are happy with 6 million for a left back? you expecting him to score or set up goals every match? save that 6 million for god sake! [Poor language removed] all the hype!

I've seen enough of Valente that I'd rather have him back there to start. Not a knock on Baines. Good to know though that we certainly would have some depth on the defensive end.

My first guess of the 2M rated player thrown in as a makeweight was McFadden.

What annoys me is that yes prices are inflated at the moment but what do we do?! Not sign anybody? Keep saying to ourselves- 'Bah thats too expensive not gonna pay it' We need to strengthen the squad and Moyes has highlighted a left back as a problem area. Baines would be a good signing for years to come.

What would be a fair price for him? 4m? 3m? 2m? If Chopra from Cardiff is worth 5m then Baines is worth 6m.

Perhaps that might have been a bit harsh but I'm looking at removing BT for 4 million plus his wages. For 6 million with less wages Baines and what he can bring. At a total cost of 2 million plus he will see more games fitter and will score as many as BT did last year. Plus Valente has only so much time left. He did seem to tire mid second half last night.

I would have put the limit on 4m. Basing on West Ham/Portsmouth/Spurs prices, then Baines is worth 6, just think Moyes is doing it right, being cautious (especially after the CL debacle)

What ANNOYS me is that baines is only 2 million less than fernandes! See my point? Who is the player we need more? Sell BT for 4 million and fork out 4 more million for fernandes!
OR RIQUELME!
