I think that Lescott will play like that for the next few games in an attempt to get sold. Then when he doesn't, he'll put his arse back in gear for the world cup.

I'd really prefer he went to be honest. The sooner the better too.
Get someone in who wants to be there, and has something to prove.

Me too, me too. I think Moyes has set his stall up on this one.

I think Moyes has said to him "listen, I don't want you here any more than you want to be here, but we need you. Wait 'till Jags is fit and you can go in January".

IMO like.

You cant defend that result and performance..utter shocker simple as that.

But maybe its what we needed a real howler of a result like this to bring us back down to earth a bit.

We're a solid top 6-7 side nowadays and thats about where we'll finish come may this game will be forgotton about but perhaps in the long term it'll make us realise that we've more than likely hit our ceiling with our results last season.

We aint going to stretch the top 4 at any point unless real money comes in,like it or not it makes the world go around and when its plain to see we're strapped for cash we dont have the phantom 20-25 million some peeps on this board seem to think we have, otherwise surely we'd have spent it by now.

Lescott as i've said all week, now he handed his request in should be let go that could give DM some room to move in the market (and no i dont know who to bring in)but the lad clearly wants away so we should bite the bullet and let him leave,if we take a couple of more defeats while we look for someone then so be it..it cant be as bad as this one surely.

it was really bad, but i don't think we are stuffed
we were looking pretty good, but then when we let those two set pieces goals in we dropped our bunddle and from then on we had no hope becuse we had no condifence

get that set piece defending right and we'll have no trouble against sigma

We were 'found out' in the cup final so badly, now everyone knows how to beat us. Physically dominate the left side, only need to close down the right side to neutralise it. the rest was them being good and us not even trying. Why did fellaini get dominated physically by Song? I'm sick of Fellini me.

The boys need to settle and get there ******* heads together. I noticed when Joleon came out that he didn't want to be there. David Moyes should never have put him out, he should have gone with Rodwell instead.

I also felt Moyes should have perhaps put Baxter in, give him a game, let him show us what he can do. Instead it was business as usual, the same stuff as last year, and apart from Pienaar it was drab hoof ball all the way.

I was devestated because I was really looking forward to the game and felt no fear whatsoever, totally let down, and further insulted by Neville's comments after the game.

Agreed. Lescott should not have been involved and Moyes cut off his nose to spite his face. Fair enough, Lescott was not the worst player on an awful afternoon but the fact that he played for a club he wishes no longer to play for was a major mistake. Lescott will be gone by the end of this transfer window so why is Moyes insistent he is'nt going no where? I dont blame Moyes for wanting to hold out for more money but holding on to Lescott against his will, can only harm the club further.

Almost twenty hours and I'm still fuming. Just watched the game again to keep a close eye on Lescott and bugger me if I can tell from the tv screen he doesn't wanna be here then surely Moyes can. utter garbage that was.

The game was disasterous, but it started brightly. 20 minutes or so in I was sat in my seat thinking Arsenal hadnt really shown anything and we were pretty much controlling the game, then Bendtner turned baines inside out layed it off 1 - nil, then 2 really sloppy goals from free kicks. 2 almost identical mistakes at the back posts (since when have we defended like that), there was no organisation, almost no idea of who was picking who up. A couple of goals like that was enough to knock the stuffing out of everyone. Not a great start to the season but we will bounce back.

The speculation did have an effect .
Though , the real issue is , that this side limped over the finish line in May , and once again , a summer of dithering has seen us regress . We may be able to claw some back with Mikel , Jags , and Yak . Though , I doubt it this year .
The Keeper is an accident waiting to happen . The Premier Lge has now sussed that the ball over Hibbo's shoulder is the one against us .
Lescott ??? Take the dough , TODAY . Ditto , Saha . Leon , decent squad player . Not a starter . Neville , enough already with centre mid .
My opinion ; this was coming .
I hope Kenwright felt the same as me yday when his head was on the rail in front of him .
He is in a position to do something about it .
We'll probably finish 7 / 8 th this year . Not bad , but the opportunity we had last year has now gone . THAT is the Premier League .
Fukn Shame .

Lets keep things in perspective theres a big difference between looseing to Blackburn on the opening day and looseing to Arsenal. I have 50 notes on Arsenal myself to win the league thisseason myself as i think they wil be that good this season.

Some of their goals were sublime and very few of them you could look at say we should have done better. Although they were better they were not six goals better.

Im not saying we were without fault and im not making excuses but im not sure not signing players is one of them, the players should be fresh, we had access to more players yesterday then we did during at many times last season.

I found Moyes's comments intresting after the game "that" he needs to better. Maybe he does this is the second straight year we have started sluggishly, especially the defence collectively which looked average for the second straight season, this is all the more annoying considering that its one of the best and meanest in the Prem consistently.

There seems to a problem with the shift in our mentality from preseason to lights, camera action - in game time. It needs to be adressed big time. The season starts next week for real.

It was billed as "4th v 5th from last season" but in reality that was always a false portrayal of this match up. When one of those clubs who usually finish above us really focus on delivering their payload and Everton have a bad day a big defeat will happen every time. The gulf in class between those teams and Everton is Grand Canyon-like. When there's also discontent in the camp that factor produces a capitulation like we got yesterday. Everton are way off the pace of teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, United and Liverpool.

I see there's a laughable attempt in some quarters to put yesterday's trouncing down to 'lack of preparation', 'poor conditioning'. Jesus wept.

Maybe the Lescott situation wasn't the main reason we lost, but I'm fairly confident we wouldn't have got battered 6-1 if everything had been fine and dandy. I don't see why Lescott shouldn't take the blame, he goes to Moyes before the match and says he's 'not in the right frame of mind' to play a game of football. What an absolute belter. It's his job ffs, if any of you lot went to your boss and said you weren't in the right frame of mind to work you'd probably get fired. (I didn't say me as I'm a lazy student and so am very rarely in the right frame of mind to work. Also I don't have a job ) He's an idiot.

But yeah, apart from that we were dire in every way. Things can only get better...
