Arteta interview (recent)

I only need @mkrudden to come and tell me that Barry was better than Arteta for my full dose of utter nonsense for the day. Arteta was good for one match, ffs heard it all now.
You're reading what you want to be there rather than what is there. I said he dominated one match in my recollection.

He was a quality player but not a great one. His game was very simple.

dave, kenwright didn't have to accept that offer did he? he could have said no we haven't got time to replace you, we'll sell you in jan ( which btw is what ANY competent chairman does )

your pinning the blame on the wrong guy
As Moyes said at the time: "I didn't want a player not committed to the team still around the dressing room".

Well you recollection is mistaken, he dominated countless matches. If we’re comparing him to every midfielder in history then yes he’s not a great player. If we’re comparing him to Everton premier league midfielders then he’s our greatest by a mile.

I was fine with him until the Quarter Final in 2014

He'd been well received by many prior to that game

But there he was, openly cheating against us

He was my favourite player and I appreciated the reasons why he chose to leave, but that crossed a line

This wasn't Lukaku giving it back after we'd had a pop at him. This was a former player who had always been treated with respect, despite leaving the club in somewhat acrimonious circumstances, and yet he behaved in a disgusting manner to get us eliminated from the FA Cup

I've still not forgiven him for that

You don't expect former players to do you any favours, but you do at least expect them not to try and cheat you, especially if you still treat them warmly following their move
He wasn't playing for us then, so he did what he had to do for his team, can't see a problem with that. When he played for us he was exactly the same so we shouldn't expect anything else

As Moyes said at the time: "I didn't want a player not committed to the team still around the dressing room".

dave you've contradicted yourself

you just said he wanted to leave for 2 years, but DIDNT down tools

now your saying he was sold because he wanted to leave and moyes didn't want a not committed player? by that logic he should have been sold 2 years earlier should he not

Interesting listening to him talk about his move to Arsenal. He forgot to mention he handed in a transfer request with just a few hours left in the transfer window; meaning we had no time to get in a replacement. I don’t resent him for moving to Arsenal - he’s right, he had given us seven years’ excellent service, and Everton was then a club standing still - it was how he went about it.

Yeh maybe, but im always mindful of loyality bonuses or some other clauses in contract that could benefit. Not accepting this was an overnight decision right at the end of window. His knee was shot, went to a club where he could be more of a luxury rather than linchpin of a team. Was there something with one of his children needing specialist care as well....

There's no contradiction. Bad-mouthing individuals who let the club down is not the same as bad-mouthing the club.
And therein lies the truth as you see it. For me, your continued bad-mouthing of the club makes you worse than any player (mercenary) that has left the club and then paid lip-service to his new fan base, by slagging off his previous employer.

You contribute nothing to the support of Everton with your constant negativity, and so, dear chap, back to ignore status you go.

What a player. Won't have a bad word said about him.

Still makes me sad now thinking about when he left but what would I give to have him, Cahill, Pienaar and the Yak back in our side. That was a proper everton side.

Silva OUT
Arteta IN *

* Maybe in 4 years time
In 4yrs? That long? Won't happen.
Because If Silva's still here then he must be doing a good job...now if you'd have said 2yrs.

Just think of the experience he is getting working with the world’s best manager and how highly Pep must rate him.

See Brian Kidd, Paul Clement, Carlos Queiroz and Mike Phelan.

Loved Miki, was absolutely heartbroken when he went. Don't think you could consider him a rat given the state we were in at the time and the Arsenal team he was joining where he won 2 FA Cups.

Great interview. But I agree with most of the posters about Arsenal move, it was not a decent one. Not the move itself but how he has done it.
