If he didn't let the club down why was he making a grovelling apology for a full two minutes?
Already said so. But it doesn't change a thing.Played the best football of his career with us. Quality player, fit to grace any Everton team. @davek's pin-up would have creamed himself watching him play.
They did...all the way up to Manchester to inteview him and he couldn't even be arsed to change into neutral clothing.I doubt he approached the club to make an apology, i'll assume they approached him
I take it pienaar is a rat then aswell?

Last hour of the window throws a transfer request in when we're trying to build on a decent season.
The lowest of the low.
Is the fact he wanted to leave us a year earlier than he got to a plus point in your view?but if you listened to the interview he said he wanted to go the year before and had good offers but moyes and kenwright convinced him to stay one more year because they wanted to build, he stayed and nothing happened that season so he wanted to go, you make it sound like out of the blue he wanted to go, he's told them he wanted to go, a late offer was made so he had to tell them again

He was desperate to leave Everton for two years before he did. You're calling him a rat because of the manner he left ie last minute, but he'd have already told them he wanted to leave
is he a rat for wanting to win something before he retired? certainly not
as me and others have said, he CLEARLY gave his best footballing years to us and should always be welcomed back, he's far from a rat
did you dislike pienaar on his second return and think he was a "rat"?
Your mind must be playing tricks on yiou. Arteta's signature pass was to recieve the ball and look sideways to Pienaar or Baines ALL THE TIME.Yeah, haven’t seen anyone like him since. Some elements of the fan base prefer a crab fest though so he’d probably be hounded out of the current team.
He was desperate to leave Everton for two years before he did.
That's ok. As he says, it's football and he wanted "better".
That is the very reason, though, that no Evertonian should ever fawn over Arteta.....and THAT is also football.
He didn't down tools, no. He merely walked out and left us in the lurch with 2 minutes left in the transfer window to get a replacement in.can you blame him? we were a good club with a good team but he stuck out like a sore thumb for how great he was, he could have been winning trophies and playing in the champions league every year if he got an earlier move
people like arteta because he gave his all and didn't "down tools" like some modern day footballers do, again far from a rat

I can remember one match when he took control of the game and started playing forward passes: an away match at Villa that we won easily enough. That is about it though. He was the ultimate crab passer...which is why I stated earlier that Roberto would have loved him in his team.

Thanks, Mikel.
