I think he just wanted to clear things up on why he left...I think the players were as bummed out as we were going off their reaction to his incident with Ross. I'll accept his reason on the basis of what he said in reference to how they had brought the club back up and he didn't see it getting better and he didn't want to be around for that. That would be a bit of a tough pill to swallow and partly why I've always taken a light hand with Jags, Leighton and Seamus...especially if they retire with us and end up winning FA.

While we're a great club to play for, we weren't an easy club to play for...especially if you want some sort of achievements on the mantle. I hope that can change.

Hails from an era where you had to be a talented ball player to be considered a quality Everton player, rather than just riding a skateboard and looking silly in Dubai

I find it somewhat ironic that davek accuses former players of being "a rat" or "utter disgrace" for bad-mouthing the club. Isn't that what he does every day on here?

And he's supposed to be a supporter, we all know footballers are purely mercenary money-grabbing tossers anyway and we have no real expectation of anything different.Supporters though, every now and then, should have a good word to say about the club they "support".

There's no contradiction. Bad-mouthing individuals who let the club down is not the same as bad-mouthing the club.

how did he let the club down mate? he gave us his best years, he stayed longer than he should have to be honest, the couple of years in the middle of his time with us he could have played for anyone in the prem, he stayed and never moaned, he got his moved to arsenal and won a couple of trophies before he retired, good on him

nothing but love for mikel

If he didn't let the club down why was he making a grovelling apology for a full two minutes?
