Are we stronger than last season?

We lost lukaku, delboy, barry, mcgeady, valencia and cleverly.

We gained pickford, keane, rooney, sigurdsson, martina, klaassen and sandro.

Seriously if you think we are weaker than last season then you need to check yourself into an institute where they can do some scans just to check all is ok. ;):p

Definitely stronger for the future, some really promising youngsters brought in.

Weakened by the sale of Lukaku but he was always going and for us would be virtually impossible to replace this window

I think provided the new players gel then long-term(18 months) we'll reap the rewards of a much stronger squad

Really don't get this mentality? Surely now was the time to act. How long have you followed everton? I have my whole life and now in my 30s. Some of our best players will leave by then if nothing is achieved this season which looks likely now. So it's a missed opportunity. Football is about the here and now, yes it's helpful to have youth come through but we needed a striker to make this season count.
By not signing a striker this season is effectively a dead rubber as many have mentioned we are some way off the top 6 now. So if we finished 7th or below again, this season's top performers will look for 'a new challenge.' And we will be back here a year from now with a totally different team and probably no koeman.
Steve Walsh and moshiri have hugely let down the club in the window

I totally agree with the first part arguably we needed two strikers. But doesn't Bill share any blame? He still negotiates deals it was partly his inability to get a striker over the line

I actually thought you were going to say the opposite. Lukaku regular for man Utd title favourites. Del boy regular for Barcelona. Barry was getting on but was a class act and will be premier league record appearance holder. I think at best quality wise it's a about an equal swap except we don't have a striker.

I'm not trying to say any of this to just prove a point. I'm saying it because it's fact we have no out and out goalscorer

We are weaker in one position but that's only when he can be arsed. Del is no good in this league. We just won't play so direct as we have in the past. Once we get Coleman and Bolaise back we will gain a bit more in attacking threat again.

Hopefully we get that striker come Jan if things play out like we all think it will.

In answer to your first question - I've followed Everton since 1962
I've seen successful teams(late 60's/mid 80's) and crap teams(pretty well all in-between)
One of the reasons we only had a couple of successful era's was because we didn't build for the future when we had good teams.
There is a lot going on with the club at the moment...new stadium/new owner/new manager and it's all with an eye to the future

Put it this way - if we'd have spent £100m on a new striker instead of the 5/6 young players then we may have a slightly better chance of winning a cup this season(the league is completely unrealistic) - however, if 2 or 3 of these young players live up to their potential then in a few years time we'll have a stronger team, more revenue from the stadium and may actually challenge for the league.

Football is not just about the here and now for me

GK is stronger- defense will be stronger once Coleman is back (but the same or weaker until then- coleman absence cancels out keane gain). Rooney, klaasen, Sig are all much better attacking attacking mids than Barkley in my mind. Where are are weaker is in the last half of the field.

Unfortunately, I don't think we will be getting a new striker in January either because i think a) board/moshri are happy enough with Rooney/Sandro/DCL and probably were all along, hence no effort made to sign anyone and b) very difficult to sign any better than what we have now during the January window.

We also shot ourselves in the foot vis a vis Man U by agreeing to sell them lukaku before the season started instead of selling him just before the window closed- he scored 3 goals in the first game or two.

We are stronger.

Lukaku downed tools and was laughing with Belgian reporters about how he never even thinks about Everton.

DCL was Man of the Match against City Away. Sandro will need time to adapt.
Everyone wants an instant star but without the bloated CL to offer we have to try alternative methods to improve. Frustrating but that is our standing currently.

The rest of the side has improved.

The biggest downside is the dreadful Barkley situation and Rooney still behaving like an idiot off the field.
2 of our own setting bad examples is very disappointing.

And our striker is a 20 year old with 1 goal in 14 appearances
