Unfortunately, they can afford to hire people to seek out tax avoidance schemes for them.

In an ideal world we should just be taxed on the items we buy so noone can escape that way.

I'm really a socialist in terms of outcomes, i.e, everyone should benefit, but I'm Tory in terms of wealth generation, i.e. If we're going to make money then let's do it better than anyone else on the planet.....

seeing as they pay for their children's education directly and pay taxes to fund state education, we should be doing all we can to encourage more parents to utilise private education in this country.

We do. Private schools are charitable institutions so enjoy as many tax and other perks as, say, cancer research or the NSPCC. We tax payers are subsidising private education enough. The last Labour government came close to removing the charitable status of public schools but chickened out. I feel private schools are a bit like golf clubs. A useful place to herd all the people it is best to avoid.

I went to a private school and as a result haven't experienced the full on school experience that most teachers have to deal with, but even in my experience with smaller numbers of kids per class i still had and have huge respect for those who taught me and continue to teach. There are some great perks to being a teacher, but the thought of trying to control a class of 25 or more unruly teenagers gives me sweats, never mind actually doing it.
