Angus 'happily dissatisfied' Kinnear

Is anyone seriously suggesting Angus Kinnear goes out and signs players?

Apparently so - you in his/this thread;

Sign some players you village idiot looking cretin.

...

I think people are barking up the wrong tree if they think that’s the point of people saying he’s failing. He is the CEO, the chief executive, which means he is the boss of all the other executives at the club. That includes the ones on the recruitment team, who he brought to the club and who he is allowing to fail at their jobs.

Like the director of recruitment who Moyes wanted/had long worked with at multiple clubs, who didn't start until after the summer window closed.

If a department is failing in any business, you look upwards to find the problem.

Friedkins, then?

They're busy at the moment.

Ok, what’s the relevance of this? It’s now mid January.

I look forward to us getting off to a quick start in the summer window, the lads will have had a whole 9 months to bed in at that point. I trust they will have a thorough shortlist of players drawn up, and no excuses about the World Cup.

Could it not have been bedded in between September and January? Who do they appear to have had no plan in place for this transfer window, knowing we have several positions in the team still to address? What have they been up to in the last 4 months?

….i honestly wonder if the owners see us in ‘no-man’s land’ with regard to this season. Looking safe, out of the cups having invested heavily in the summer on a couple of big money signings that are contributing little (Dibling & Barry).

Probably some monies available this month but very little, maybe use any income generated from outgoings.

Take stock at the end of the season.

Yes.

But we’re allowed to sign players who will be here for longer than the rest of season aren’t we?

They should be taking stock now. If they think starting preparations for next season at the end of May is a good idea then they are very much the clueless buffoons I suspect they are.

With only 17 games left it would make sense to leave it. We all know when everyone is back and fit we have a good enough squad.

What would?

Nick Cox was Academy Director at Man Utd and James Smith Director of Scouting and Recruitment at City.

I recall press, even neutral and Manchester based saying they were impressive at the time.
Well they certainly have an impressive resume but their first window for us was a mixed bag and overall less than impressive. Barry is shocking, Dibling was young and needed time and was never going to be a replacement for Ndiaye when he went to Afcon. We have made him terrified to play. Jury is still out with Rohl. Aznou looked okay the other day but has barely been seen. Dewsbury really good and not their fault he got injured. I like Grealish too.

First window for them fair enough but it has been obvious for months now that we desperately needed at least a striker and a right back in place as early in January as possible and we haven't done it and are losing points and cup runs because of it. I hope the second half of the window is better than the first half. Even if they have instructions not to spend much this window there is still the option of loans.

….i think it’s more a matter of making do with what you have and take stock at the end of the season. I’d be very surprised if we spend much, it’ll may be loans and a bit of wheeling and dealing this month.

Investment was decent in Summer, we look safe enough so they might want to determine how it looks by way of improvement in May.

I can understand that, especially as Barry and Dibling have failed to fire.

We knew we needed a right back last year, we know we need one right now, and we know we’ll need one in the summer. So if the plan is to wait until the summer then I hope they spend the next 6 months meticulously preparing in order to move on a right back in the first week of the window opening. Let’s see on that one, I guess.

They only joined after the transfer window opened, Nick Cox even later in the year

Definitely. And the more we slip away from the “if we throw a bit of money at it in January, we will very likely get into Europe” scenario, the more it makes perfect business sense for them to wait til summer.

Sadly.

We could have really forced their hand if we’d accidentally won a couple more games.

Just not good enough, from the very top all the way down, including management of stadium provision, and the football and playing staff. Bunch of amateurs all over the shop.

Have the Friedkins forgot they have bought us?
