Andy Van der Meyde - The Lost Years

what ghost's been saying about bringing youngsters on doesn't mesh with his earlier posts about how [Poor language removed] anichebe was.

from previous posts he's made he's always saying try this or that lad from our academy.

Moyes doesn't play baxter, rodwell, anichebe, lukas etc for a reason - they are not ready yet. He's been forced to play them due to injuries and the size of the squad.

no point slagging anichebe off, he was ok in the first and then faded -

as for all the people saying moyes doesnt know what he is doing - this club be facing the championship or already in it were it not for Moyes. And therefore facing bankruptcy.

Somebody name one manager who would come and do a better job, with no money in the jan window, and hardly any in the summer, a crippling debt, and a stadium falling apart.

Moyes is the best man for the job, I think some of the fans are spoilt by him.

I still think we should play youth, I just don't rate Anichebe. I like Vaughan and think the times when he has been benched whilst Anichebe goes on is shocking decisions by Moyes. Vaughan is by far the better player.

How about that?

spot on leon. ghost thinks playing 15 year olds is going to sort everything out.

the lad has no clue whatsover.

bad hypocrite.

OK pal, I am basing my Moyes was clueless on VDM, on todays events. Why play him for 5 minutes when he has not played all season in first or reserves team. Also why give him no.7 and then not play him.

He's been off the injured list for nearly 2 months, so why is he not getting time in the reserves to build his fitness?

That is what I am saying Moyes is clueless about. I know he has done wonders for this club, but sometimes I despair at his motions.

I have to agree about bringing on V.D.M as I don't think he deserves to be given a chance and sadly I don't think he really cares one way or the other.

Na I think you're wrong there personally. From his body language when he plays and even from his interviews he always makes it known that he has a point to prove. Can't knock him for that. He was lively when he came on, he just seems desperate to play for us and I admire him for that.

thought he played well in the short space of time he was on, it was nice to get some corners put into dangerous areas for a change. We should play him he can offer us something different from set plays.

but if Moyes had brought Baxter or Rodwell or someonle like that on, chances are they would have done [Poor language removed] all and you'd be saying, why didn't he bring on someone else?

anyone can look like a genius after the fact.

VDM was good enough for inter once upon a time. He didn't look at all bad in his brief cameo.

If Arshavin, Vagner Love and Eto'o were playing cards on the bench I can understand your vitriol but otherwise...it doesn't make any sense.

It was just tough [Poor language removed] today. Two silly mistakes, and one wonder shot - whilst we hit the bar had a few cleared off the line and put a few easy shots direct into friedls gloves.

bar the mistakes we were better than villa today and showed signs of improving. Just a pity it was a european six pointer. Its people not gettting behind the team thats half the problem at goodison park and at everton.

on the back of that I wouldnt be surprised if we gave chelsea a good match.

(is it chelsea next?)

BTW between Lukas, Baxter, Vaughan and Anichebe - I bet you only one or two make it in top flight football for the majority of their careers - and none of them towards the top of the table.

p.s how could he play vaughan anyway, he was injured?

Anichebe did very well for 65 minutes, bullied them at times.

He tired though, got injured and we weren't giving him the ball in the right areas.

I don't see how anyone can critisise him though, his workrate set the tone for the game and he gave his all.

He only played 6 minutes and he contributed largely to our equaliser. If that's not a good substitution I don't know what is. Moyes did nothing wrong today, you can differ with his opinion, but he didn't make any definite mistakes at all.

Saying we need a new striker doesn't really tell us anything does it, clearly Victor isn't at the level yet to be a first choice 4-5-1 forward. How many teams have even more than one player that can do it, hardly any. We have two and they're both injured. He did alright, you can't really blame him for not being as good as Yak or Saha. He was a lot better than Agbonlahor wasn't he, that's Villa's second possibly first choice centre forward.

Fell sorry in a way for Van der Meyde. Yes, he as been his worst enemy at times but he still in my opinion is a gifted player. Moyes should play him more often as a squad player but seems reluctant to use him, much in the same way he does not want to use Segundo Castillo. Since he scored his stunning goal for the blues, he as featured very little after injury, yet to me he deserves a recall.

I meant that it made no sense to pick him as no.7 for the first team squad and then give him no time first or reserve team. Then play him for 5 minutes and expect a reaction.

He didn't change things today, we were always on the offensive, I just thought the way Moyes has handled VDM is out of order.

I also know Vaughan is injured, but when he was fit, he was still behind Anichebe, and I know that Vaughan isn't chuffed because I have noticed his reaction on more than one occassion when he has been overlooked. Bit like Baines, fairly pissed off.
