Andy Van der Meyde - The Lost Years

Well he has been off the injured list on the OS and on PhysioRoom for about two months, but he's not been seen on the reserves or the senior subs bench. That is more or a less a fact. So what the [Poor language removed]? Something is going on. Guaranteed if we had Yak, Saha and Vaughan, VDM would be no where near the bench.

So surely the fact that he isnt even playing for the reserves would suggest that its not injury thats stopping him playing? Hes a waste of space, clearly there are big problems there.

OK fair enough, but there are reasons. Just coz there not in the newspaper doesnt mean they arnt there. Moyes knows what hes doing. He hasnt turned us into top 4 contenders with a [Poor language removed] squad and a [Poor language removed] budget for no reason.

So why bring him on with 5 minutes to go????

My arguments here are not about VDM being the silver bullet, but about Moyes complete incompetence in dealing with him and making squad selections that make sense.

He took off our Right Back and put on a right winger, he then asked a CM to play at right back, mind boggling doesnt even come close.

Well I think he wanted to make a double sub, and for some reason Moyes always replaces odd players but it usually balances out. Like a left back for a striker, and a striker for a left back. Not a left back for a left back.

Its bizarre, but than who can explain what the [Poor language removed] goes on that bench. I'd tell you if Chris Woods didn't keep his mouth covered whilst on his phone.

Out of all our midfielders, Van Der Meyde is our most natural winger, and certainly the best crosser of the ball we have got. I am convinced that given a good run in the side, and him remaining injury free, he could still do a job for us. People slate him calling him a drunk, on what evidence? He had his drink spiked on a night out? Every player goes out for a drink, they are only human afterall.

I have no problems with him being an impact player, no problems with him being a squad player either. He's part of the squad, he may aswell contribute.

People where booing Moyes for the subs today, just [Poor language removed] off you clueless [Poor language removed]. The players gave there all today, there where no other options and the tactics where spot on.

Really couldnt have put it better myself, all of it.

Don't have a problem with van der Meyde really. It's just that I think the lad has lost it and it's a shame regarding the potential he had.

To me it looked like 3-5-2 using baines and VDM to cover the whole flank.

It worked

What baffled me, and I keep asking myself the same question, why was jags still up front after the equaliser? Why didn't we revert back to a 4-5-1 or even 5-5? We deserved the win, and he clearly went for it, but the way the game went, we would have all walked awy from the ground delighted with the point. I'd never celebrated a goal so much, and to have it completely wiped away in the space of a minute from carelessness.

I still think he could offer something from the bench, I have no problem with him contributing. Even if it's as an impact player or when we have injuries.

I don't want him to stay beyond this season but he's certainly capable of offering something in my opinion. It's up to Moyes though, it'll be interesting to see how Moyes uses him.

I was shocked him came on today to be honest, he looked hungry though which was nice to see.

hes on teh best players we have on the books but moyes doenst like lads with skill.

its a disgrace he hasnt played. he changed the game when he come on today.

No he didn't, and try and put the letters in the right order.

The only thing that changed the game today was the mistakes by Arteta and Jagielka. Other than that it would have been game set and match.
