Andy Dunn likes Bill Kenwright

In this thread you have one of the reasons Bill hasn't been the complete hero: his ability to divide the fan base.

As it happens, I don't think he's much if any worse than the great majority of chairmen / owners the club has had. By and large, they've been complacent and lacking in vision. John Moores was an exception to this in his early period ... but I still believe that the real reason Ball was sold was to help finish paying off the new mainstand.

Bill's problem with many fans is that he'll never live down the Kings Dock fiasco (including the Gregg scandal) or Kirkby.

shouldnt act like a divi then lad , theres lads on here who havent had the pleasure of goody park ,but there still real everton fans in my eyes ,

I hope I can get to Goodison 1 day, ive heard the GSE is boss and the Park End is for weapons.

1 day hopefully I can make the trip across the sea and visit the 9th wonder of the modern world.

lets say the club was sold today and we could look at the facts.
kenwright bought a premier legue club in need of a stadium. how much did he pay , what were the assets worth and what was the debt.

a new buyer would have to spend 120 million on a prem club in need of a new stadium . what are the assets worth and what is the debt ?

i just think these figures will be a pointer to the level of how good or bad kenwrights reign has been . also it will point to wether him being chairman has been better for him or the club.

We need more wacky Japanese people to buy replica kits

And we need more Irish fans. Irish football fans must spend more money per person on English football than any other foreign country

Just getting kit and kit sponsorships relative to the villa's and fulhams of this world would see us in the black.

So Kenwright's a chancer dreaming up money-making scams by staying at Everton for nearly 15 years and barely made profit in all that time?

What weird logic the anti-Kenwright brigade use.

I tell you who are chancers: the Americans leeching off the red clubs. The Glazers £600m leech loans, the Gillett/Hicks dodginess (Liverpool can count themselves extremely lucky they got out of that one alive).

We will see what the chancer gets for his shares when he does sell, I will bet you that it will be many, many, many times the amount he bought the shares for.

I will also bet that the person who does buy his shares will be one who pays the amount he wants and the chancer wont care if its some dictator, a dodgy company or a dodgy salesman lining in a one bedroomed flat in Singapore.

Isn't there a way that the club can protect the colors, name etc from being changed in the future by any owner/chairman etc?
Seems a bit random that one man can do what he likes completely.

I've read a few weeks back that Red Bull is looking to take over a Premier League/Championship club so things could be worse of course. (Then again, you could always say that.) Personally I don't envy City or Chelsea, especially now that we haven't got to worry about the "glass ceiling" standing in the way of us fighting for European places. The more we focus on our limitations the more we strengthen them and so on and so on.

In other words, personally I don't mind us not being as rich as others, so long as we are run well.

Astoundingly clueless post.

Well done you.

Gaydamak wanted to buy us, and he bid the asking price (back in 2005 or so it would've been about a £30m stake in a £50m total valuation). Bill refused. Gaydamak then bought Portsmouth, and then wanted to sell to make a quick profit. His asking price? £60m. Are Portsmouth worth that much?

Is Gaydamak a chancer? What's he doing now?

Gaydamak has been alleged to have asset stripped Portsmouth F.C. before this sale and yet still retains a claim, said to be £32m, against the club as a creditor despite the huge debts at the club. Investigations into these allegations are ongoing.

You want a real chancer running our club? You'll get if if Kenwright sells to the highest bidder.

A chancer is not someone who stays at the same club for 20+ years. Bill's been one of our directors since the late-80's. A profit-hungry chancer he is blatantly not.

So what is he if not a chancer? An Evertonian looking after our club, yes. A businessman looking to make profits for him and the other major shareholders, yes. A flawed man who sometimes makes mistakes and covers them with the odd white lie, yes. An honorable man who will try to please the fanbase (see badge), yes. A local man who understands his city, his club and its people, yes. A chairman who doesn't have the riches or influence to compete with the very biggest clubs, yes. A chairman who is reluctant to sell the club, yes.

A greedy chancer who doesn't care about Everton Football club and will leave us in the lurch at the first sign of profit, no.

Astonishing really that some of you think he is a chancer as bad as the Gilletts/Hicks, Glazers, Venkys, Thaksins and Gaydamaks of this world. Either it's just pure stupidity on your part, or there's an agenda going on here.

What bothers me is whether Phillip Green is really behind the scenes and does own Earls (the front) shares.

I'm intrigued! it's a good conspiracy story. But if it's true then we really can't trust Bill Kenwright.

If it's true why the Fuk is he not pumping money into the club. He's a multi-billionaire FFS.

We've got a Philip Green thread here:

http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/48425-Philip-Green

And I admit, Kenwright's answers to KEIOC regarding Green appeared evasive (saying "he's my friend" too many times):

There's undoubtedly some shadiness going on...but there is in pretty much every Prem club. Not just football clubs, but most major businesses have their intrigue, shady dealings and little conspiracies.

The thing we football fans have to think about is if it's worth attacking Kenwright personally all the time, creating this negative bitter energy when it very well may not be deserved. We also have to consider the alternatives. I already mentioned the likes of leeches such as Gilletts/Hicks, Glazers, Venkys, Thaksin and Gaydamak. And now we've got Cardiff changing shirt colour, and Hull City being renamed Hull Tigers. Not long ago, we had Wimbledon entirely relocated and renamed.

We're not doing too bad with what we've already got, you know.

Still, these next two transfer windows require backing. If we don't get it, I'll be the first to criticise. But I'll never call Bill Kenwright a lying greedy chancer who'll leave us in the lurch if the price is right. That's just nonsense.

The same fella who nearly packed us off to a cowshed and told us that GP was falling down on our heads while he would have benfitted with a share uplift and his best mate described it all as "manna from heaven"

Some people can,t even remember last week.
