When was the last time a signing like this worked out well for us. And if anybody mentions Paul Power I'll scream
On a free? Gareth Barry I guess surprised us.

Marcus Bent comes to mind but I think there was a nominal fee there .When was the last time a signing like this worked out well for us. And if anybody mentions Paul Power I'll scream
Ignore my post above as well as my ignorance . Barry is the correct answer . Thanks Nymzee .On a free? Gareth Barry I guess surprised us.

Just find this bit weird on the club site:
“Everton is a massive football club and very ambitious,” Townsend told evertontv.
“They would admit I’m coming here to be a squad player."
Like, what's that about? I don't think I've ever heard a new signing say they're here just to be a squad player.
Looking forward to seeing him get the ball on the wing, cutting inside and ballooning a shot miles over the bar. Vintage
Think he's just being honest/realistic really. He does go on to say that he hopes he can work his way into being an important part of the team. I imagine he fancies he can do it but doesn't want to go shouting it from the rooftops.Just find this bit weird on the club site:

David Weir was decent also. 29 I think when we signed him.Richard gough. And he was 54.

Agree but i reckon he probably knows he is going to be used as backup, he would really need to borrow some of Jurgens happy juice if he is going to start on a regular basis imo.I'd rather a new signing thought and pronounced he was going to do all he can to be an automatic starter. Just seems like he'll be happy to be here and pick up his wedge.
