Confirmed Signing Andros Townsend

No, it would still be a rubbish signing. He's rubbish, we shouldn't sign him. In 12 months when we want rid of him for being rubbish which team would take on his massive wage? For a reference point see Bolasie, Yannick or Tosun, Cenk or Bernard.

I'd imagine quite a lot of teams would be happy to give him 4 million quid for a year, considering he's somebody with 234 Premier League appearances to his name.

Nobody is paying 31 year old Andros Townsend £80k a week in 12 months time. Nobody.

For a year, with no transfer fee? I disagree.

In context, Walcott cost us a total of 37.5 million for 3 and a half years (minus what wages Saints paid.)

£4 million, all in, for an experienced Premier League winger, for one year is not big money.

And even if we have to cover some of it, if we do decide to get rid, we can't lose any more than the £8 million it's costing us in total.

Could not be more underwhelmed with this and the Begovic signing, I would be disappointed if we made signings of this ilk in the Moyes/Bill era when we were skint. Throw in another tomorrow (Demari Gray) and mix it with the FSW appointment, it adds up to a stinker of a season. Brands should hang his head in shame

Or, we could save all £8m by not signing poor players.

Who else was interested in him to offer him something daft like 80k p/w? There basically seemed to be no competition for his signature
