Confirmed Signing Andros Townsend

That's not because he was useful. I mean I do think cheap deals like that are worthwhile but I'd put Naismith as one that didn't really work. But Townsend is significantly later in his career so it's hardly the same. Gray is closer to that.
You must be kidding - we ended up making just shy of 10 million. That goal against Liverpool alone makes him worthwhile. He seemed to function well with Lukaku.

This feels a lot like the way people talk about [redacted] but because Naismith was free they aren't bothered as much. Which is fair, financially Naismith was way better for us, but on the field not so much.

That can't be true? That would make him one of our highest paid players. It would also blow the whole 3 players for the wages of Bernard out of the water.

Benard is on approx £120k+ a week so 40k profit

Walcott was on around 100k a week so assuming Gray ends up on around 40k-50k thats 50k-60k profit.

Begovic will essentially take Lossl's wages

So about 100k a week profit not bad at all.

Not including the 110k or so saved from Bolasie + Besic.

Comes across really well in his interview, as does Begovic. Both seem like intelligent people that are keen to play and work hard to prove they still have something to offer. I think these two are actually quite shrewd signings and it's refreshing to see the club actually thinking about their transfer business rather than the scattergun, crazy money approach of the past few seasons.
